i have shifted from complex blends with 10 or 15 plants, to very simple blends, consisting of a caapi/mullein/d'arco-X base, then highlighting one other plant, variable depending on mood & season and availability. most things come from the garden outside when possible.
i have found that for me, complex blends become so muddy, i find it hard to notice and appreciate any of the individual components. then i began to develop anxiety about how all these plants interact with each other, and especially with harmalas.
so i shifted to simple blends. that way i can actually taste and feel the extra plant addition. it feels more respectful to the plant components, to give them each their own solo show on stage in the lime-light. i can experience each plant to a more full potential, and better understand how it effects the spice journey.
i feel like this mirrors more a traditional ayahuasca dieta path as well. dedicate to one plant at a time, learn its ways, then move on to another.
usually theres a few blends made ready, so i can still work with one for a bit, then switch it up and go somewhere else later and a different blend.
but i am still learning. maybe after i gain more experience with these simple individual blends, i will feel more confident mixing herbs together. definitely think theres an art to it all.
idk, it reminds me of smoking cannabis, if i smoke the same weed over and over, ill build a tolerance. if i get 10 diff kinds of weed, and put them all together, well im still going to build a tolerance, to all of them, and not really appreciate any individual flavor. but smoke a different type of weed each day, or one type in the morning and one type in the evening, then my tolerance doesnt build so fast, and i can appreciate each new flavor of weed. but thats just me. hope that makes sense.
