I get what you’re saying, but I think the point is that she’s a performer, like an actor. She’s been given a job to promote a certain lifestyle so products tied to that lifestyle can be sold. It’s a kind of dream, by definition. And while I might not agree with everything she says, that’s not really the issue.

I don’t like ads for alcoholic drinks because I don’t support those products. But that doesn’t mean the people in those ads are bad. In her case, she’s probably working with a whole branding team, getting coached, being given talking points it’s all part of the performance. Maybe she has her own opinions, maybe not. But that’s not really what she’s there for.

She’s doing a job. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. In fact, she seems to be doing it really well.

I think you're oversimplifying and bypassing some things. The term "snake oil salesman" comes to mind... they're just doing a job too... both are inauthentic, even under the scope you've delineated.

It's kind of similar to my gripe when people say things like "it's just music." No it's not. It's much deeper than that. Look at drill music. People literally die in that genre...

To me:

"she's fake" == "it's an advertising" == "it's an attempt at manipulation"

Yes, the people must be unhappy with their lives so they keep spending to attempt to reproduce the images they've been bombarded with.

No hate for the individuals that play the role of images to reproduce. I just despise the whole that those images are part of and would like to see it come to an end.
 
I too would've loved a genuine conversation, but when OP comes asking for opinions, gets them, then proceeds to become defensive and condescending while completely missing the point then my hand is forced. I'm pretty much done with allowing foolishness to proliferate on the Nexus, and I know at least @Voidmatrix is with me on this one :D

Haha it’s clear Void is with you😄, me too, but I think this thread could have gone in a different direction, when I first read this thread I thought it was either a strange way of advertising or a very obvious attempt at seeking confirmation. In the latter case I think it would have been better to start with asking questions rather then what happened now. I haven’t seen the other OP post, so I might not have the whole picture, but if someone is looking for confirmation it’s better to listen and see if it’s possible to help.

Of course this is hypothetical and it may have gone another way, but I think if there is an opportunity to make an positive difference it’s worth trying.

How do I define madness - even madness relative to our community which is viewed as insane by others. . . . here's how:

You are insane/mad when the majority of people in your community cannot understand your communications. You try, you repeat, you go around a different way and they still don't get you. Basically insanity is anything that goes against the majority.

We don't have to like it. As mentioned this is not a democracy. There are no real democracies. Get over it. Hierarchy is the name of the humanity game, as is concentrated power. Why would Nexus be different?

Given from what I've witnessed of the history of this place I am at a point in my life where I appreciate this fact.

Look around at the REAL world. Hierarchy and concentrations of wealth and power are ruining everything.

Carefully look around this place. Hierarchy and concentrations of power are the ONLY things keeping this place alive and worth visiting, the only thing keeping it from degrading into some sort of child haven 4-Chan, the only thing keeping it from flushing harm reduction and descending into Bluelight territory, the only thing insisting on rigid scientific method and documented research proof for chemistry/science claims and the only thing keeping it from being flooded by AI generated posts. For this I am very grateful.

Deal with it or leave.

Don't fool yourself. We like talking to each other. This just happened to be a thread that got us to commune. The threads also goofy and most of us could use a good laugh. No one's brain was tickled. On the contrary, some people stated they felt they got dumber.
