Where is everyone??

Migrated topic.
Maybe it's just that cacti season is coming to a close for some folks. At least here, they're being eased into dormancy for the winter.

Thanks for the response xram - there is life in the Nexus!! Sometimes I forget that not everyone has my frost-free climate.

I have been busy with school :). And yep, my plants are in for the winter. Spanishfly, this year I am going to keep my pedros by the window like you said instead of leaving them in the dark as I have been doing. I'm hoping this might encourage them to flower next year... wouldn't that be nice!

Nathaniel - that would be the best thing for them - they need light all year

Mine are still blooming.... I moved the peyote inside under Leds. They are doing great.

My trichs are outside in a green house - all has been well except one pedro. It got root rot during the rainy season last month. I was able to cut and save. We'll see if I make a resin or decide to re root

I have been really busy in life with work and the social life so I haven't had much time to post. Also my camera's charger broke so I can't post any new cactus porn till the new one makes it here. Also, I'm very busy over at STS and SAB. The cactus forum here is lacking in participants so there isn't much new discussion.

Im on the other side of the country from my babies right now on travels  i miss them so much, id love to be sharing updates but ill be gone at least another month

Hostilis, I go to Share the Seeds (using another name). What is SAB, may I ask??

hxxp://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?act=idx

here you go, you fit right in :)

it is a good place, with alot of enthusiasts
they wont allow any discussion about use or potency etc anymore though

plus they are on the wrong side of the world so this is an active time on board

I have just joined SAB - using this name. Am not allowed to post anything yet but assume that will soon change.

I also am a member of the British Cactus & Succulent Society´s forum, called Cactus World Online, where there is a wealth of knowledge and a massive archive - http://www.bcss.org.uk/foruma/viewforum.php?f=1

I was a member of Mycotopia for quite a while - but left them after they upset me badly.
When you are a website that relies on donations, you really do have to be deficient in the brain cell department to piss off your donators for no good reason.

More than once I've wondered if a "cactus talk not allowed on shaman-australis" thread would work here. Often hard to sort out if the aussies love certain plants because they look cool outside the body or... inside 😉

Dont tell EG I'm starting a conspiracy here :p

cactuscultivars.com/forum is cool. The owners have some cool plants and seeds for sale too sometimes. Astrophytum and Ariocarpu cultivars. CactiGuide.com - Index page is pretty good as well.

And the reason SAB doesn't have alkaloid talk is because of the ridiculous crackdown on cactus growers out in Australia. Heard about some of the growers getting raided out there for growing lophs and trichs. Funny thing is... they take the T, pachanoi and T. peruvianus, but not T. bridgesii. Hehe.

I joined SAB a WEEK ago and I still am not allowed to post. They need to get a move on or I (and I presume others) will lose interest.

Yea I'm one of those people that lost interest in it when I started a account there however long ago, but all of my cacti are in there winter slumber and have been for a couple months. Not that I posted barely at all but sorta puts a hiatus on the whole cacti thing.

The delay between joining and posting isnt negligence, they do that to keep the mess bots make to a minimum.
Waiting two weeks or whatever isnt such a bad price to pay, seeing as its the only price to pay 😉
And instituting that policy really did cut the bot traffic down.
