Don't know much about lime.
Should I get pickling lime, or some kind of other lime?
and would I be most likely to find it as PH up for pools, or in a hardware store or something?

And how likely is it to find in an average store?

Which is easier to find? Lye or lime. Either would work.

Pickling lime is best. It's 100% edible calcium hydroxide. But don’t eat it. It’s meant to be highly diluted.

Don't use lime. Use sodium carbonate.

Hydroxides degrade bufotenine if left at to high a pH for too long. Sodium carbonate won't do this no matter how much you add or how long you leave it.

I'm not really picky. Either would work. Right now this is just for now. I can experiment with other things eventually.

But where should I look for lime if I'm trying to get it locally?
And is it easier to get than lye?

Sodium carbonate's easier to get than either... for me anyway :)
Isn't sodium carbonate, lime?

but anyway, where should I look?
I have no idea where to get lime. Should I check hardware stores, pool stores, or grocery stores? 0.o

Sodium carbonate is washing soda type stuff.

Or just get some bicarbonate of soda, or baking soda or whatever you call it and put in the oven at 300f until it loses 1/3 of its weight. Then you have sodium carbonate.

Lime is calcium hydroxide.

Ahh. Alright. Thanks.
Where could I get sodium carbonate?

I buy sodium bicarbonate from the baking section at my local store. Then just whack it in the oven at 300f until it loses 1/3 of it's weight.

Then I hve sodium carbonate.

You can also do the conversion on the stove top. Just add Sodium Bicarbonate to a pan and cook at medium/high for 10–15 minutes. The powder becomes fluffy once conversion has taken place. Weigh out when finished if you’re unsure whether conversion has worked correctly.

sodium carbonate very easy to get from anywhere that sells pool supply's (ie:home depot, wall mart, lowes, etc.) it's called "Ph Up".

Lime is a little tougher. If you have a Mexican supermarket close by they will guarantee have it with the spices. They use it to make corn tortilla.

lime will break your bufo.
Really Phlux? I've read countless teks that use lime. I'm not doubting / questioning you, but can you elaborate? I'm interested in learning.
EDIT:Scratch that. Soulfood already answered this.

SWIM is riding a nice bufo / LS* buzz right now. 8)

One other source for sodium carbonate is arts/craft stores. Typically sold as "Washing Soda" or "Soda Ash" and used in the process of dying clothes and such.

Also check out q21q21's extraction tek. He has 3 links to lime sources on there.
