White crystals in aceton give yellow crystals

After a ReX with hot naphta and discarding the yellow goo, i got perfect fine white fluffy xtals after freeze precip.
I added aceton in the flask to get all of spice and put it out on a flat glass surface to evaporate.
Then mistery happened and gave me yellow crystals again???
how can this happen with aceton?

Does your acetone evaporate clean? One possibility is impurities in acetone.

Another possibility is that some dmt n-oxide formed during evaporation (its still perfectly active)

Another possibility is that some n-oxide and/or plant oil that was somewhere between the white crystals and you didnt see, as it redissolved and re-evapped, covered your crystals in a way that you now are able to see.

i guess it must be n-oxide then. It also takes a lot of time to get dry again.
My aceton evaps clean as a babybut.

Acetone evaps super quick which doesn't give crystals a chance to form leaving DMT in its oily state, trapped inside the crystal formations.

I've seen this many times.

I reckon if you redissolve in naphtha and allow that to slow evap, you'll get whiteness again.

I don't know what do you exactly mean by oily state... It's oily at first, but after you whip it/move it around/scratch with a piece of wire(for example) it hardens rather quickly. Then one can scrape it up and chop into powder.
I've noticed that after redissolving in acetone it's very easy to find yellower than original product after it has evaporated. However, pure white after acetone redissolving is also possible, one just has to make sure there are ONLY white crystals inside the acetone. Even small amount of yellowish or oily spice with the white will result in yellower than original product, because it's all mixed in.

I don't know how many more times I gotta say this, but here's another for the n00bs..

DMT will turn yellow upon autooxidation with air.

Why not? If one isn't going to smoke it or use it for changa or enhanced leaf, that's the best option?

However I recommend doing 3-4 recrystallizations for single batch(1 gram for example). Because even after two "pulls" the yellow goo has lots of good DMT in it. Just swirl it around and use less naphtha for the 3-4th pulls.
