White fuzzy layer in Noman's tek

Currently doing Noman's tek. Ratios per jar are: 600ml H20, 40g MHRB, 40g NaOH, 300ml Naptha

Naptha layer is extracted into smaller sealable jars and left in the freezer overnight. Most of the spice sticks to the bottom of the jars, so the Naptha is immediately recycled back into the extraction jars (while still cold). Now a fuzzy white layer is developing between the H20/MHRB/NaOH layer and the Naptha layer. It appears after the jars have settled from stirring. Stirring method include a gentle up and down motion with a modified potato masher followed by holding the jar upside down for ~30 seconds. It this white fuzz an emulsification? Is it cause for concern? I'm thinking it might have something to do with recycling Naptha while it's still cold. Any advice about this (or the extraction tek in general) is greatly appreciated.

Could be an emulsion although dont know why it would be white.
Emulsion would be a fuzz of micro bubbles that should dissipate over time.
If you add 25g of dissolved salt to your mix it will clear up emulsion problems. It wont harm you ph levels.

A picture would help a lot...

Also 300ml of Naphtha for 40g of bark is loads...30-40ml should suffice and would saturate quicker.

Thanks for the reply cyb. Here's a picture (sorry about the low quality, all I have is a camera phone). As you may see the white fuzzy layer is on top of the "dark" layer.

Emulsions can be broken with salt. Try that perhaps? Also I would think that 300 ml is way too much naptha. I would think 30 ml would work better.

Go for the salt and see...it wont harm anything...
Also as a little experiment...Suck up some Naphtha and the layer and a little bit of lye and put it in a small glass or shot glass.
So it looks like a 'mini' extraction.
You will be able to have a much closer look at whats going on there...

Also 'Way to much' Solvent....use 30-40ml..on your jar-about 1/2 inch to 1 inch :p

A friend said it could possibly be "other parts" of the MHRB that may have been extracted between the layers. I think I can rule out emulsion as it a completely new fuzzy skin-like layer and not a bubbly gradient like emulsions look like. Another friend jokingly said it could be from all the Reiki.

I have experienced this as well. I actually thought it was what we wanted and it was seperating out below the naptha and above the mhrb/lye....could that be the case if it was left to sit for a few days? Seems like the genral consensus is it is something else entirely?

same problem with the white goo, but was sure that to be dmt.. so we made crystals from that (still a very little bit sticky), putting the solvent with the goo in the freezer for 2 days.

what we have now are some clear yellow/white crystals on a plate.

already tried to snort it, to do a lightbulb thing, and then a cylum. nothing or just a little happened, what does it means guys??

Same problem with the white goo, but we had no dubt it was dmt as far as now, so we've took away the solvent tovhether with the white layer, put it in the freezer and got a little white creamy substance, half freezed, covered with solvent. Once Poured the solvent we managed to dry the cream and get some crystals.

Then yesterday tried to snort, to smoke it with a lightbulb and eventually with a cylum.. But nothing or just a very little happened.. Could it be the wrong way to assume it or is it simply something different from what we were looking for? Hope our present experience will help

white goo is a great way to describe it. I have only experienced this with the pre powdered. It seems to be a good thing if it can be gathered, its just hard to seperate it from the base layer as it sits right on top of it below the naptha, once ive removed alot of naptha, lightly blowing on the remaining mixture seems to mix it up somewhat making it easier to gather and its usually a hefty concentration. I would try smoking or vaping what you got. snorting is a waste of your time unless you have consumed harmalas, even then I wouldn't snort homie. put it on a nice bed of herbs if you dont have a method of vaporizing...use as little flame as possible when lighting the very corner of the bowl, get it all in 1-2 big hits...hold no less than 15 seconds each....check out the wiki on various methods of smoking, changa is my personal favorite, very easy to manage.

I will add, I have yet to yield crystals from this goo, as each time I dealt with the goo I also had excess fat in my pulls as well (thought this was related) and essentially was ruined coming out of the freezer, the excess in fats and or tannins froze with the "goo" and upon thawing just returned it all to a liquidy mess. which doesn't mean its all lost. a sodium carbonate wash can help if this occurs.

You can disolve your spice in pure acetone, can buy at home depot or lowes in the paint thinner section. you can then soak any herb you like in this,in a small glass dish or half pint mason jars work good if you only have a little herb. once you have the herbs soaking in the acetone/spice soup place the dish on your stovetop and turn your stoves fan on...in an hour or so the souip should evaporate, leaving you with smokeable herbs :)check out the "enhanced herb" or "changa" sections in the faq or wiki section. I make "real" changa with 10X caapi leaf mixed with mint leaves from my garden. check out the links!

You can use MJ if want, but I wouldn't personally and I think most would agree. It will definitely leave a "footprint" on the experience if you do. many of the herbs on the link I posted are super cheap to buy online, google any of them and you will see. hope it goes well!
