Why does Oral DMT Last So Much Longer?

Migrated topic.

HELLO!!!! I was wondering if anyone knows why oral dmt lasts a lot longer than smoked? Does it affect a different part of the brain? Even with maoi, the smoked experience is much shorter. I've been intrigued lately by the differences between the two administration methods. Also, very intrigued by smoking after taking an oral dose. Now that produces some fireworks.

If oral dmt has already been taken, and then some gets smoked, it almost feels like the smoked stuff does it's thing for a while, then wears off, then recirculates through the body and comes back to the brain as the sensation of pharma like dmt.

I would say it is because it is a much longer way for the DMT to travel from the stomach than from the lungs. The lungs go nearly directly to the brain, as they supply it with oxygen every breath, while the stomach contents takes time to be absorped. And when it is absorped out from the stomach or the intestines, I think it often has to travel some through the body, there's no direct access as it is from the lungs. Combined, I think this leads to oral DMT lasting much longer.

yea, its just a speed of absorption/metabolization issue.

When inhaling, its absorbed almost instantly & like endlessness said, is taken to the brain immediately, where it is used & depleted very quickly.

But it's absorbed slower & taken on a ride through your body on it's why to the brain, so there is not only a delayed onset, but there is also a kind of time-released effect making it last longer. As you begin to feel it coming on, there is still some in your stomach/bloodstream that has not done it's thing yet & will extend the experience as it is used.

There is probably a more technical way to explain it, but that's the gist of it.

Which explains, I imagine, why oral doses are much higher than smoked - the absorption takes longer, so to maintain a high level of DMT crossing the blood brain barrier, more is consumed, but takes longer for full absorption. Just a (semi)educated guess.

When you smoke crack it lasts a couple minutes, coke lasts like 20 minutes snorted, and oral cocaine lasts almost an hour -- so its not really just DMT thats like this

I know what you mean. Whenever I take pharma, as soon as I feel like I'm somewhat immersed in the experience, I take a couple rips of the GVG. Usually hits me like a train. Extremely colorful with intricate, archaic patterns everywhere. It seems to take a significant amount of time for the "smoked effects" to wear off and for the pharma to resume its course. I think smoking on pharma definitely extends the pharma trip as well for me.
