Please keep things civil, disagreement is NOT a personal attack. Claims require evidence, if you're going to take the time to post assertions/claims, you should be prepared to back them up or defend them. If you identify so close with your beliefs that someone questioning/challenging them makes you feel as though you are being attacked, perhaps it's time for some self-evaluation.

There's no reason this thread can't remain free of personal attacks.

I think by truth one can mean "to see inside one's own mind" and that's very difficult to actually "see" without the aid of psychedelics. Altough there are techniques such as meditation.

Personally I don't know if there is an "absolute truth", but to understand ones own spirit better through wise use of psychedelics is definately something one can consider "pursuing the truth".

I certainly agree that psychedelics may be useful in learning something about ones personal self (personal issues and stuff like that), but that's about it. Some of you talk about psychedelics like they would save humanity, claiming to be oh-so-wise while people without psychedelic experiences are sheeps/slaves/robots/ignorant of reality or a combination of any of these. I think that is pretty tense too, and not to say the least very unfair to those who have devoted their whole lives and worked hard with important and real issues that concerns us all.

Psychedelics have potential, yes, and it is a shame that they are not as much recognized to have this potential, but they are not THE solution to anything. And there is a bunch of very complex issues that deserves a lot more attention than psychedelics do.

Reguardless of how tense you find othes opinions to be, so far from what I can tell they are not calling you ignorant or attacking in you in a similar manner. You are the only one behaving like that in this thread. Just think about how your responce is going to be recieved by others before you post. It is not hard to say the same thing but formulate it differently.

I think ignorance plays a huge part in people hating drugs. People don't understand what they are, what they do to you, and what you are capable of doing while under their influence.

I also don't like it when I see people elevate LSD, DMT or entheogens in general to a higher level and claim they are not drugs. They ARE drugs. And not understanding that is ignorance as well.

I think instead of trying to separate certain "good" drugs from the "bad" drugs we should change the stigma that is associated with the word "drug" in general. There are SO many different drugs out there, we need knowledge and understanding - not fear mongering by anti-drug enthusiasts or pedestal-placing of certain ones by pro-drug enthusiasts.

well actually the term drug is very vague, because an aspirin is a drug. its a plain term and its meaing its kinda diluted, yes indeed DMT is a drug in the strict meaning of the term but its not a drug IMO in the terms of destructive mind evasive substance. perhaps the word drug should be depricated.

Yes, I do feel indirectly attacked, and I feel a lot of people are being indirectly attacked. Take a look at what christian writes:

People don't hate drugs, they just hate the TRUTH.

I don't hate the truth, and many others don't. This statement needs backing up, seriously.

They would rather believe what they read in the newspapers, and everything they see on tv as fact. They would rather believe that it is their duty to work 9-5 monday to friday, and follow the same rules that everyone else does. The government, religions, police and armies have all trained us up well to the point that we are conditioned to be happy with this level of happy ignorance.

Again, talking about peoples ignorance. What ignorance? I work 9-5's, I follow a lot of rules (except the drug ones) and so on. And on the basis of what christian writes here, I, and many others, are filled with ignorance.

--so , do we just keep on working and consuming ourselves into happy ignorance, or take psychadelics,wake up, and smell the coffee???

Here he claims taking psychedelics will wake us up, and indirectly this means that people who don't take psychedelics are ignorant and asleep. Do you see the problem, fractal?

The term "drug" is indeed very vague, and that is the point I'm making. I think we should redefine the very word and teach people that moderation is key when it comes to drugs. And teach people responsibility with using drugs (set and setting, overdosing, etc.) It's funny because 99% of the planet are drug users and a big chunk of those people are drug addicts. We just don't call it so when the drugs are sold at a gas station instead of a back alley.

I mean, it's funny right? We have stores that have big signs on them out front: "DRUGS FOR SALE" - ??? What's the difference here?

Why can't he request that people support their arguments?

I think that this is important, especially when people get in the habit of posting vague or questionable assertions and refusing to support them while getting upset when people challenge them.

at this point wee seem like the only two willing to provide more opinions on the subject as everyone else has engaged into a debate about how should people argue to each other properly.
