Will these freeze separation work for DMT???

Migrated topic.

You know as the turtle doesnt have separatory funnel or narrow tall containers, or pipettes.... the turtle wants to see if it can use the same aproach she uses with mescaline extractions

she just places the settled bottle of basic solution with plant material/solvent already separated in layers in the freezer.... the lye water freezes while solvent not, and turtle gets all solvent from container.... and then salts it... turtle loves these freeze separation method as it makes no mess

but will these freeze separation method work for dmt because i hear it crashes out from freezing naphtha??

Ye the point of freezing the naphta is to let the dmt crash out of the solvent. This usually sticks to the bottom and sides of the glass. So i think the dmt will be sticking to the frozen base, which makes it hard to scratch it off without also scratching off your layer of ice. At least that's what i'm guessing now. But doesn't this take a lot of time, considering the fact that you'll have to do several pulls?

Sure it will work. As long as your naptha isnt too concentrated with spice, the dmt will stay in the solvent and wont crash out. For cheap methods of seperating, I would just recommend getting a syringe though as they are free from any pharmacy. Turkey basters work too. Plastic bags with the corner cut will work for seperating layers also. Many options that dont risk crystals crashing out into water layer. ;)

arent plastic bags, and rubber destroyed by the naphta??? like with toluene and xylene and acetone?

yes, glass is always best, ive seen some nasty rections with naphtha and plastic turkey basters. glass pipettes are cheap though, and so are glass funnels and graduated cylinders ;p

So if you use excess naphta, the dmt won't crash out before all of the base if frozen? Just wondering because i think it will take some time to freeze the base.

Airdog please let us know how it went!

From SWIM's experience, yes, that is correct. I cant put an exact number on it because each extraction has its own unique properties, but a few grams of spice would probably be safe in 500ml naptha, not crashing out.

I have noticed this about plastic turkey basters!

They are rubbish, use glass everything if you can!

As a side note regarding naphtha + spice for storage.

One can put about 1 gram per 100ml at room temp without it crashing out (probably more but 100ml works well). I tried this the other day on a recrystallization, dissolved 1g of clean spice into 100ml of naphtha, left it on a shelf at about about 15c and nothing had crashed out nor had it gone cloudy after 3 days so a liter bottle of naphtha can hold 10g of spice.

Put it on a shelf in a cupboard next to where you keep your paint, hidden in plain sight.

A great stealth way to store your spice ;-)

Peace.

sweet! i was thinking of this one day.. if i NEEDED to hide it fast, i could just hide it in naphtha like you said, somewhere in the house/garage. one question is, can you leave it there for a long time? like months? (if one needed to hide it that long)
