Yellowish yeild

I recently did an A/B extraction using vinegar, lye, and mhrb and got pure white crystals on the sides of my jar that i freeze precipitated in, and then yellowish stuff on the bottom.
I did three acid washes with ph 3 vinegar water solution. The first two lasted about 75 minutes, and the last one was 4 hours. Then i basified and did four pulls and used way too much naptha (my first extraction.) Then i evaporated my naptha to about 75 ml and freeze precipitated and the yellow showed up on the bottom and the white on the sides and floating around in the solution.

Yeah, I mixed it with a little of the white to clump it up more and it dried a lot more after chopping (top is yellow stuff, bottom is the white)

I have a hard time really remembering it, but i feel like i was communicated something of great importance to my survival. I can't quite put a finger on it though. I feel reborn in a way. Like seeing the world for the first time again. It was deffinitly more intense than the other times i have done it.

The yellow is just very small amounts of plant residue and oils that made it over into the naptha. It seems like the heated solvent draws more out of the solution. Even when freeze precipitating the spice can get a slight tinge to it after pouring the solvent off just from making contact with the plant residues in the solution. I find defatting before basing and pulling with naptha usually doesn't get it all out, whereas defatting the combined solvent pulls from the basified solution with acidified water and then rebasing and extracting always yields white spice for me. Learnt that step from lextek and personally think its much more effective than defatting prior to basification

if you want to know whether there are impurities in the pulls let some of the spice fall out of the solvent by simply letting it cool to room temp for a bit (or if its not cold enough where you live then chuck it in the fridge for a little while). If its coloured then heat bath the solution again and you'll notice it dissolves back into the solvent, leaving behind oils and impurities at the bottom that have become insoluble in the naptha. you can keep repeating that before doing the final freeze precipitation and you should notice each time the spice falls out it becomes more white

this is my experience with extracting from acacia anyway.... i know they are supposed to be a fair bit fattier than mimosa.

Have you ever tried a MHRB extract bricklaya? Amazing how much fat there isn't in them.

My first ever attempt was with acacia. Complete disaster. Yielded 0. I don't like to talk about it. :/ I messed up my first MHRB extraction too I suppose in fairness.

The yellow stuff i had was way easier to smoke and is just as good as the white stuff.

Different methods produce different looking results. I bet if I did an a/b next time I'd be pulling snow white spice, but I like stb and I really don't care about yellow spice at all. It looks more natural and less clinical with that tint to it...

Plus the smell and texture are more pleasant IMO. I like the sticky powdery stuff because I myself find it holds up better to the heat.

Different strokes for different folks though. If everyone is getting to hyperspace the last thing anyone cares about is what color spice got them there!

I dont believe the yellow is from oxidization. I could be wrong I havent read anything proving that.

I dont believe anyone can tell the difference between yellow and white in the effects. I have heard one or two out there say they can. I would love to do a blind test with those individuals and prove em wrong. I have personally done many blind tests and I have hundreds and hundreds of voyages, I cant tell the difference in the effects. I can notice a diference in taste if vaping spice in the crystal form through a GVG.

yeah i can't tell a difference at all either. the spice in your photos is fine.. it hardly takes any plant fats in the naptha to colour the crystals.. so the amount of extra chemicals in your extract will be very minimal anyway. I've heard people say it has more depth but i haven't found that myself. I think if your going into the experience thinking about differences in effects then you'll probably find them anyway, because every spice journey is so vastly different from the last

one thing though which could suggest oxidation being a factor, is how the crystals can be white when they're precipitating and then slightly tan coloured after drying.. especially after a few days. that could only suggest oxidation to me cos it certainly isn't pulling the colour from thin air.. obviously this is only an issue though if the colouring happens after it has been dried.. as far as it being coloured during precipitaiton my best bet would be oils/plant residues in the solution.

oh and one other thing i've noticed is that otherwise white crystals sometimes go yellow at their tips when precipitating.. especially when the solvent is just covering them after being evapped down. i'd assume this is because when precipitating with less solvent the oils/residue will be more concentrated

..yellow developing over time (from paler or white) is probably DMT-N-Oxide, in small amounts, and unlikely to cause noticeable differences at natural levels..white can eventually become pale salmon after a years with oxidation..effects of these extracts are usually still the same, despite the gradual oxidization..

yellow from the start, however, could possibly be small amounts of NMT (which darkens with time), which has been found (in small amounts) by endlessness in multiple MHRB extract samples..see Analysis of Jungle Spice..in these amounts there could conceivably be a small difference in onset effects..certainly in the amounts sometimes present in Acacia confusa, and obtusifolia, yellow>orange>darker NMT can slightly modify the effects..

..there are also trace fatty-acids demonstrated in MHRB extracts, which could have colour (no actual 'oils' i'm aware of as such)

98% of my spice has been yellow thus far and I must say it's just as wonderful as anything white or glassy that I've ever tried.

The only cause for concern would be if you still smelled solvent in your spice and you smoked it anyway. If it's unnaturally harsh that's probably something I'd look into....
