Yohimbine extraction info

SWIM is interested in extracting yohimbine from yohimbe bark, which is said to contain 6% yohimbine. SWIM has not been able to find much information at all regarding yohimbine, what form it exists in within the bark, methods of extraction, or even the basic properties of yohimbine like its boiling point.

SWIM knows that it is most commonly found as yohimbine hcl when it is sold in drinks (check the 8.4 oz SPIKE shooter energy drink), and so wonders if a method similar to the syrian rue rock salt/vinegar extraction could be followed to obtain the hcl salt.

If anyone has experience extracting this chemical, it would be good to get all of the info in one place, it is extremely cheap to buy (100g for $4), and is a vasodilator, and so would be a useful counterbalance to many vasoconstrictors.

It goes very well with LSA (HBWR, morning glories, etc.) in which it very effectively blocks the vasoconstriction effects of LSA as well as increasing the psychedelic effects of it.

I’m also interested in yohimbe extraction. I haven’t seen any good tech for it yet.
 
I am currently trying 2 methods. Coming from it with an amature mind. I would love any suggestions on improvement. And I will post results asap.

First, doing a limtek. And going to try 2 ways to finish it one just dry the vinegar and second see if the yohimbine precipitates out when raising the ph above the pKa of Yohimbine.

Second, using warmed denature alcohol acidfied with citric acid.

With the 2nd and 3rd vinegar pull from the d-Limonene I added ammonia to reach a ph around 8. The pKa of Yohimbine is 7.13.

This is the result. I haven't yet filtered/dried and I question what the substance is...

Is that freebase yohimbine crashing straight outta water in those last pics?
