yohimbine salt extraction

introduction.
this threads objective is to refine the extraction of the indole alkaloid, yohimbine.
i have made ethanol extracts before and they worked well, however im looking to aquire a salt instead of tar

method.
a/b + cleaning

acids:
-vinegar
-fumaric
-hcl
-carbonic

bass:
-sodium carbonate
-sodium hydroxide

nps:
d-limonene

cleaning agents:
-methanol
-ethanol
-acetone
-mek
-water

substrate:
-powdered corynanthe yohimbe


initial set up:
1.5 liter vinegar soak of 100g powder for 1 day
-resulted in excessive foaming, i assume the powder was heavily basic before acidification
bassified with sodium hydroxide water to a ph of 11
added 400 ml of d-limonene
shook vigorously
agitated to separate
added more sodium hydroxide to resolve emulsion from shaking
-observed discolored d-limonene



questions
-is a ph of 11 going to destroy yohimbine immediately or over time
-is fb yohimbine soluable in d-limonene
-is yohimbine acetate insoluable in d-limonene
-what could be used to clean yohimbine acetate

slight bassification and aggitation resolved the emulsion. unfortunately im out of glassware due to my rue processing, so i must wait to siphon off my d-limo before adding more, collecting all nps pulls, and salting the lot.

my d-limo was previously clear, but now is a dark orange....
exciting right?

first nps collection yielded 350 ml of dark orange d-limo, 400 ml fresh d-limo was added back to the extraction and mixed thoroughly.

total nps recovered ~675ml (not a whole lot of effort) of the 750ml it was

burnt orange and slightly opaque

salted with 100ml 5% distilled white vinegar . clouded aqueos phase and lighter/whiter organic phase

obvious salts were isolated, remixing same salt for next 8 hours to achieve maximum saturation, and because i dont feel like working too hard, this is a liesurely project after all

*thoughts on acetate*

its melting point is less than a bic lighters heat and will freebase upon smoking, hopefully a unique effect on its own and a great spice potentiator

aqueos phase is dark orange, organic phase is less dark vs pre salting

100 more ml of vinegar was added without removing previous salting solution. first salt was so dark, i can afford to get more out of this first salt. 3 minutes post salting/shaking salt solution is much darker than when fresh vinegar was added the second time. total solution is about as dark as the first half that was used

the salts were collected and evaporated via dehydrator as such:

after scraping it all up i collected 500 mg of brittle tar

100 mg was smoked through a bubbler with a mesh screen, the salt melted through the screen (possibly going into the bubbler water) and yielded a dark funny tasting harsh smoke.

instantly effects began, it was simmiliar to smoking harmalas yet it had another aspect entirely, it was not enjoyable nor was it unpleasant it was just an altered state. i felt stimulated and stoned, all in all it was a novelty experience and i will try eating it next time.

effects lasted 15 minutes, an hour later i have a bit of a headache if you could call it that, still not unpleasant, just weird

75 mg was eaten about an hour and a half ago

my focus and euphoria feels about as strong as a small dose of amphetamines, but i have no jitters and am quite comfortable. im in an exceedingly good mood and am about to exercise due to the vasodialating effects. i really do feel fantastic and a bit stoned but not too stoned to be stupid just, sweeeet.

slight stomach discomfort a 1 out of 10 (10 being idk chugging draino)
mild head feeling, i wouldnt describe it as positive or negative just an altered feeling in my forehead and temples, like a weight inside my skull, perhaps a lead blanket on my frontol lobe would feel this way, atleast martians wouldnt be able to get my facebook password by reading my thoughts, HAHA! foiled you!

but seriously this is nice, im not going to rush out and buy more yohimbe to extract but, i will definitely purchase more in my next botanical order

my body feels great too, im feeling encouraged to work out, i want to move!

Please don't use plastic bags as a makeshift separatory funnel. They contain plasticizers which can leach into your solvents and possibly make it into the final product.

have you any information regarding caustic polymerization and d-limonene?

the reason i felt safe doing so is because of its tendency to not leech plasticizers, am i wrong?

Not at all. Yohimbine isn't in mimosa or acacia but in Yohimbe bark ( Pausinystalia yohimbe ).
