2 Noman's tek questions

I have two questions about understanding the noman's tek
Here goes:

1. the process of mixing the naphta with the (bark/lye) solution, then removing the naptha, freezing and repeating...
every time am i using the same naptha that i stored in the freezer? i remove it from the freezer and feed it back to the solution or i am using new naptha every time?

2. the ammonia wash or sodium carbonate wash... is this recrystallization? can this be done without sodium carbonate and just naptha like easy recrystallization methods?
whats the difference? both the sodium carbponate wash and recrystallization doesn't clean the crystals? they are two distinct methods?

1. DMT is soluble in hot naphtha and barely soluble in cold naphtha. After your STB is done DMT freebase, plant fats and other alkaloids will transfer to the naphtha. For your pulls use fresh hot naphtha after your pulls have been in the freezer 24 hours. Do Not peek. If you see crystals all over great. Carefully pour off the naphtha and save it. Place your dish in front of a cool fan quickly to evap the remaining solvent. When you can no longer smell solvent you are done.

2. The ammonia wash was dropped from the Tek. If you end up with a bunch of yellowish goop then recrystallize.

You can re-use the naphtha, or use new one, it's up to you.

if you use new naphtha for every pull you can collect the pulls in one dish and freeze all of it together, that way you will save lots of time.

then after freezing and removing naphtha from crystals, you can keep it and use it for another extraction.

so is sodium carbonate wash obsolete too?

also, if i am to use new naptha every time, then what is the point of collection my naptha in jars and freezing it? since i will not be using the same.

also aren't the dmt crystalls collected from the naptha? so every time i throw naptha away, don't i throw dmt away as well?

I guess you didn't really understand what I said.

I never said anything about throwing any naphtha away, especially with dmt in it :D

when you are using same naphtha for every pull, you have to wait before dmt crystallizes from first pull, then take that naphtha and do another pull. if you are doing 6 pulls you'll need 6*24hours to do all the pulls.

if you are using new naptha for every pull, you can collect 6 pulls in less then 2 hours and then freeze it. that way you will have all of your spice ready in 24 hours.

DMT and other alkaloids along with dissolved plant fats will migrate to the Non polar solvent when you do your pulls. The DMT should come out of solution and crystallize in the freezer. When you pull you dish out you want to save the naphtha. It will still have some DMT in it use it for your next project.

Do a lot more reading and watching some organic chemistry videos on You Tube.

This shouldn't be too difficult to work out if you do a bit of reading and research and i feel bad about spoon feeding you but ........

Say you do 6 pulls from your basified solution. Each with new measure of 50ml of naphtha. You can add each pull to one container leaving you with 300ml of naphtha in total. Freeze it for 24 hours, then you should have crystals sticking to the bottom of the container in the freezer and possibly some floating about. You pour out the naphtha into another container while trying to keep all the crystals in the original container. I have used a coffee filter to pour the DMT/naphtha mix through in order to catch any errant crystals. Then you evaporate any residual naphtha in your original DMT containing container (blowing it with a fan helps) hopefully leaving you with crystals. What you do with the old naphtha is keep it for the next time you do an extraction it can be used again and may still have some goodies in it.

Search the wiki for cybs tek. While being a slightly different tek it can give you some ideas
on how to go about your freezing and naphtha crystal recovery. And it's got pictures that are really helpful for us dummies.
