2nd STB attempt using noman's tek **PICS**

200g whole bark broken up into pieces by hand, no powdering placed into two 1gal hdpe2 jugs with distilled water, lye, and vinegar.

Naptha added to each jug, jugs placed in hot water bath to help separation.

Glass turkey baster used to separate naptha from mhrb jug.

Separation shown - naptha on top with small layer of mhrb juice at the bottom for easier decanting into collection jars.

collected naptha left to evaporate and concentrate dmt

collection jars placed in freezer.

crystals forming after only 3 hours in freezer.

Good work. I did the same hand bark shredding the dirt time too. I didn't think to use jugs till my second go. Always bought pre powdered after that.

OK So more pics as promised

After crystals were left in freezer for 24 hours, naptha was carefully poured out leaving crystals behind. Naptha poured through coffee filter then added back to mhrb juice jugs. SWIM found the collected spice on coffee filters to be the whitest of the first batch.

Saturated crystals damp with naptha, left to dry out a little before going back into freezer.

Crystals after being in freezer for a few hours.

Scraped out hardened crystals, this was the hardest part for me. In fact, in the future I will change this step, but more on that later**
This brown waxier stuff was all from the collection jars.

This, on the other hand, was all from the coffee filters

Only completed one pull so far, approx .5g extracted.

I did not soak the bark in vinegar beforehand, i mixed the vinegar in with the lye water before adding the bark. Next time i will definitely try soaking with just vinegar first

**about that change in my procedure: ok so after crystals form in freezer, you take out, pour out naptha through coffee filter, and let naptha evap a little. then i stuck it back in the freezer. Next time NO STICKING JARS BACK INTO FREEZER A SECOND TIME. The crystals were stuck on pretty damn good and it was very difficult to scrape it all out. Instead, I will simply pour out naptha through filter, and let naptha evaporate a little. This way, the crystals will still be a little sludgy, and with a spatula remove them from the jar easily and add to the coffee filter collection or place on different coffee filter. It would have saved me about an hour of going at it with a metal spoon just scraping and scraping and resticking back to the inside of the jug. uuuuuuuggggghhhhhhh lol

I think that you are in danger of severely altering your reality....

A little IPA can be used to wash out the jars after the naptha has been decanted. It will dissolve any remaining spice, which can then be evaporated on a flat glass dish for much easier scraping.

Also, I imagine this would ensure that no naptha is trapped inside the crystal structure of any of those beautiful snowglobes.

mixing lye and vinegar effectively neutralizes the vinegar with a pretty exothermic and volatile reaction. do an acid cook first or do stb with lye water. after your acid cook add lye to your extraction vessel slowly with goggles and gloves, stir it in with a glass stirr.

youll increase your yield tremendously

He was trying to do a STB but used a A/B that was wrongly executed! Folks, this is what NOT to do!
This kind of thing I have heard of a few times where they say they did a STB with an acid vinegar soak. Umm acid vinegar soak is an acid! So that makes it a A/B!! (acid to base). But this mixing acid and lye is VERY WRONG! And it defeats the purpose of even using the acid! It is going to counteract the ph level and is dangerous!

One thing someone pointed out and I would point out the same. Use FLAT trays for the freezer! It will take about 5 minutes to scrape the spice with the box cutter blade! Never use jars, just doesn't make sense. Round surface, Flat blade... Ummm yeah... Flat surface, flat blade! Yeah!
