4 year old 5x Harmalie tincture still good?

A friend gave up entheogens a couple of years ago after a series of bad experiences with pharmahuasca. He was going through some old boxes the other day and found these bottles.

He gave them to me.

I was wondering if they would be good after 4 years? They were stored in a cool dark place the entire time.

I was also wondering what an apropriate dosage would be with this tincture in order to use it as a pharma component.

Anyone out there seen em before and have any experience with this?

i to have a bottle like that. says the same thing "harmaline 5x"
so i am wondering the same thing.
i know mine smells like alch, do all of yours? i see the 2 say ethanol.
mine looks about the same size as yours and mine says 75 mg alks per dropper
if mine and yours are all ethanol i wonder if we can evap/wash to get a dry usable product.
 
what does "harmaline 5x" mean?? How can you have harmaline 5x? Harmaline is harmaline. I can understand peganum harmala 5x..but harmaline 5x is like saying DMT 5x..I dunno what that means.

I would evaporate it and try to rextal the harmaline or whatever it really is so you can know how much you are actaully taking.

i just look at it as harmaline that is 5 times stronger than regular harmaline.
so if i have 10 mgs of 5x i would "pretend" it is 50mgs and it is usually not accurate from what i hear.
of course its bull, but im not the one who made that up and this was the first harmalas i ever bought like 2 years ago.
it would just be nice to maybe get some alks out of this instead of it just going to the garbage because im not gonna drink ethanol lol

^but that makes no sense. How can you have "harmaline" that is 5x stronger than regular harmaline? the only way for that to be physically possible is if it is not harmaline.. think about it..how can 10mg of that extract ever be as potent as 50mg harmaline? if you dont have 50mg of matter there without even concidering the wieght of the alcohol than it is impossible for it to equal 50mg.. Maybe 50mg of the tincture could be like taking 10mg of harmaline..

I just think "harmaline 5x" is a weird way to lable something becasue it makes no sense. 5x usually means that something is 5x as potent, like 5g of 5x rue should really be like 25g of rue..but rue is something you can concentrate. How can you concentrate harmaline?.. harmaline is harmaline..it is already pure.

I wonder if people out there sell rue extracts labled as just harmaline extracts. I would not doubt it at all. I can totally imagine people doing that..

I would evap and purify that stuff for sure or you just never know what you are ingesting.
 
I think 5X extracts are meant to convey that a "typical" extract is made (and all buyers are supposed to understand exactly what that implies), and then the extract is evaporated to 1/5th its original volume.

yes fractal enchantment you are right, i understand, it literally dosent make any sense, sorry for my slight stupidity.

ive always stay away from these now i only use 10-20x caapi for changa i dont like the syrian rue x's i have come across
i feel like my own crude extracts are much better, even just to smoke.
oral dosing i stick to pure pharma alks or whole aya plants.
i forgot i had this harmaline until i seen this post now im gonna try to clean it up and see what i get.
 
Funny, I had some 5x Harmaline from I am Shaman. Poured it into some glass and evaped but never got around to extracting it fully. What would others suggest for cleaning up this extract? What process and what solvent(s)? Dried it appears as read and brown solids at the bottom of the glass.

Funny what others come up with for labeling. Might make sense to them, but not to anyone else. My guess too is that it is 5x more powerful than their last Harmaline extract suspended in ethanol, not more powerful than pure Harmaline or Harmaline extract.
