5 MeO DMT consumption & safety.

Hello fellows! I really hope that you are all doing well in these very difficult times. I am writing this because I am planning to try freebase (smokable) 5 MeO DMT as soon as I can, so I had two questions. First, after I test it with Ehrlich's reagent, is there any other testing process that I could perform in order to be more confident about the safety of the product that I have? And also, is there any further testing that I could perform in order to be sure that what I have is actually 5MeO DMT, and not any other indole? That would basically be my first question. My second question is, if anybody knows what is the appropriate temperature to smoke it.


I would really appreciate any answers that you would be willing to provide me in regards to this topic! :thumb_up:

Hey!

You can use more reagents apart from ehrlich, to increase your confidence. For example you could get mecke, marquis, hoffman (pdmab-ts), froehde, lieberman, whatever you can get your hands on, the more the better. For results you can check here and here. You can also use TLC kits for further confidence.

I've used an oil burner and torch lighter, so not burning directly but going hotter than I would for regular n,n DMT. If you have a tempset control, I can't help much more.

Please be aware that 5-MeO-DMT requires much lower doses than N,N-DMT - even 5mg can feel very strong.

You absolutely need a milligram scale for 5-Meo-DMT. Most inexpensive milligram scales are not accurate below 20mg. I recommend weighing 20mg, spreading it as evenly as you can into a circle or square, and dividing it into 4 equal quarters, 5mg each.

Wow Hailstorm, I wasn't aware of that. That is very useful information, indeed. I was actually thinking about investing in a good miligram scale, I read that they cost about 80 dollars, is that accurate? And do you know what is the lowest dose that an expensive miligram scale would be able to measure with accuracy?

Milligram scales that will give you true accuracy, wide range, and sub-20mg sensitivity are called "analytical balances". They cost hundreds of dollars. If you are spending that much, look for something that has a reputable certification (i.e. no cheap knock-offs). There are also decent cheap scales, in the $20 range - the Gemini series is very popular, but you will not get enough sensitivity below 20mg. There is, unfortunately, no middle ground between the two, AFAIK.

You can test the purity of your 5-MeO-DMT by spreading it on some thin-walled glass (like an evaporating/crystallizing dish) placed into a water bath, heating the water up very slowly and steadily, and monitoring the water temperature. Take note of the temperature when it starts to melt, and once again as soon as it melts completely. The average of the two is the melting point of your sample. It should be close to 70°C.

Guys, do you think that it would be ok if I smoked with a vaporizer? That is to say will I be able to use its full potential? What do you think about the Storz & Bickel vapes? Do they adapt to my purpose? Do you know about any other brand that would do so? I would really appreciate your answers.

there is a lot of info on vaporizing NN´DMT, from what i have understand 5-meo requires higher temperatures.

Storz & Bickel are great vapes, But just think that it will smell like 5-meo forever, use something almost disposable, or my recomendation would be use a crucible cup atomizer. that is inexpensive and really efective.
