Basically I did a stb extraction and may have left a bit of gunk in by mistake when freezer precipitating figuring it wouldn't matter as I would recrystallise figuring as naoh is insoluble in naptha the DMT should be alright, I have my recrystalisation in the freezer and its looking extremely pure however so did it before the recrystalisation so that doesn't mean much. Will a recrystalisation get rid of any residual lye, if not will an ammonia wash suffice or will I have to recrystallise again and do a sodium carbonate wash.

If you cant see brown spots after recrystalising I guess that's all good. But I always remove brown spots with a pipette as they usually gather quite nicely before the initial freeze.
Yeah, recrystallizing will only get the lye gunk out if you physically remove it (like soulfood mentions pipetting it out). Just dissolving in hot naphtha and letting the DMT crystals grow as it cools won't remove the lye goo; since the goo is insoluble, the DMT will just crystallize around the lye goo.
