IMO biggest danger is not even this, but rather mixtures/partly adulterated substances, which even using several different reagents may not be helpful to identify.

Wait 3 more months and the TLC kits should be out which will practically completely eliminate such issues. I'm sorry I've been promissing them for so long but now we're finally really close to it, all the barriers have been overcome, we're just working on the last details before releasing it to public. Its gonna come out with a bang

Regarding the specific substances mentioned in the DanceSafe warning, MDMA, 5-MAPB, DXM, 5/6-APB , 4-HO-MET and DXM, most are easy to differentiate with some reagents.

DXM will turn orangeish with Mecke reagent, while all the others mentioned will turn blackish. Only 4-HO-MET (and other tryptamines) will turn pink/purple with ehrlich, the others dont react. From the APB compounds, simons will only barely react with them, except 5-MAPB which turns dark blue like MDMA.

5-MAPB and MDMA are the hardest to differentiate since they have very similar color changes (or lack of) with marquis, mecke, ehrlich, pdmab-ts, mandelin and simons. There are slight differences, for example with mecke, MDMA has a quick greenish tint before turning black, but 5-MAPB turns more purple straight away. I will try to find a way to differentiate them that is more fool-proof, with very distinct reactions, by researching into lesser known reagents (and if they are very useful and cant be found elsewhere I'll also distribute them). Also I am making high definition videos of all these reactions for hundreds of substances, to be released for free for everybody. I'll keep you all updated

I don't see the spirit of psychedlia to involve willfully subjecting our minds to harm, though the freedom to do so is certainly part of the spirit that I like .

Think of sports, or other physical endeavors like mountain-biking: it's groups of people taking their bodies to the limits, but they are not willfully harming themselves in the process. They take as many precautions as they can to reduce and prevent harm, despite having experimental ideas and attitudes. Novices may be unlikely to accept harm to themselves for something they have not invested much in, while many experts know what they will "put on the plate," in terms of bodily damage, and have more specialized goals.

I don't view DMT as "annihilating" my mind, though the mental effects are certainly on the extreme side of experiences that I willfully subject myself to. I view the mind as a very graceful, agile body...

Its not so much a stigma towards rc's. There are a handful that are very nice in their own right.
It's more the fact that they are more & more becoming commonly pushed as something else & the dose response curves of some of the rc's are very sharp.
It's more a stigma towards intentional misrepresentation of rc's as lsd or mdma, which even in large doses have a high safety profile. But when someone pushes, say an nbome as lsd, 5hits of lsd is safe physically, but 5hits of high dose nbome blotters could very well be your last, particularly if there are hotspots on the blotters or the dosage on the blotters is unknown or lied about.

Think about it. Yes the rc's can be fun & can be used responsibly, but if it wasn't for the booming rc market & all these new compounds constantly being synthesised & sold dirt cheap, the state of the worldwide lsd & mdma scene would be much better.

I agree it is a problem. I wonder if there is a decrease in MDMA/LSD production and, if so, is it caused by these RCs which are able to take their place in the market. And why?: Is making LSD harder than making 25I? If they are both illegal, then why make 25I and sell it as LSD? Why not make LSD and sell it as 25I? Like most markets, it is probably largely affected by Chinese industry. LSD is like the local mom and pop store and RCs are like Walmart, flooding the market with the cheaper product.
