Migrated topic.
Hi All,

My first post, first of all thank you to all of the contributors - this place has blown my mind. Yet to enter the hyperspace but am so grateful to have access this amazing resource to help get us there.

this post no doubt lacks a a multitude of detail, but thought I would show you guys a beatiful acacia scrub (i prefer to call forest :)) which grows on my land.20240207_135451.jpg

Plantin ID app suggest Pycnantha (likely as there's tons of it) but am interested to see if anyone can confirm?

My first nexus experiment I made an A/B and yielded a very small amount of goo (cheated on the freeze precipitation as I just wanted to know if it was active prior to investing any more time and material

Yet to weigh or test (waiting on tools).

Those are some great pics TonyLockett .. almost certainly Acacia pycnantha - Australia's floral emblem.

There is the odd report of DMT but is probably a variable one. Keen to hear how bioassay of the goo goes..I only tested the bark once with negative results but I think is definitely worth a look in. The ball flowered species are ignored so would be cool to get more data. Rooting for this one as I'd love our floral emblem to stick it to the establishment :D

Thanks acacian, it was a good experiment even if it was only for the sake of learning the process.

It would be cool to find something at my place, have some seed germinating which can join the forest and hoplefully, have a sustainable supply...

Will keep you posted

Found a number of these acacias growing in a coastal area of the eastern Mediterranean region.

Had a hopeful thought at first that i stumbled on a forest of a confusa, but upon further research my best guess is retinodes... happy to hear any further ideas, and also if anyone has found success working with retinodes, what method of extraction might be most effective.

This stuff is all over Spain... sadly for some reason all the good Acacias do not seem to like Europe.

A standard A-B extraction on the bark a loooong time ago yileded a small amount of inactive resin.

Has anyone here heard of a thornless variety of mimosa hostilis?

I got some seeds some time back in a trade on a forum that no longer exists. The guy was studying botany but couldn't tell me more about the seeds other than that he'd been told it was a thornless variety.

I don't have any photos to accompany, beside one of the seeds side by side. They look pretty similar.

Id put them away in a draw and forgotten about them but now I'm kicking myself for not sowing sooner.
Mimosa tenuiflora var inermis

IMG_6996.jpg

Hi friends :)

I planted these around our property a few years ago (NSW Australia) and would like an identification if possible. These girls have begun spreading around the garden so I'll plant them out in their own happy spots before they take over the place too much :)

Thank you in advance. I will pay forward any help recieved
