I've been doing extractions for a few months now and I know my acid wash is where I am losing it if it is MY issue. I'm still debating if the bark I am getting is not the true inner root bark.
Anyways I have simmered my vinegar acid wash about 110F without a lid on it and did 3 one hour simmers. I have also done 3 one hour boils with a lid and without a lid on 2 different batches of bark. I have only actually burnt the bark on my hard boils without a lid on. After being frustrated on my low yields, I let the bark sit in the pot with vinegar and water for 2 1/2 days in the dark and stirred occasionally. When I ran it I only got a gram off of 500 grams of bark, the first run with 2 separate pulls. I know I'm not messing up the basing or the end extraction parts wtf?! I know the ions are protanted which means they can handle heat in the acid form (from what I was told)? Please shine some light on me brothers and maybe sisters.
I am getting my bark from a US source that comes from Hawaii. Help a hippie out!
