Activities on ketamine

Hi all, I'm pretty experienced with psychedelics but have never tried ketamine. I plan a solo session with a moderate dose and I'm wondering if I should prepare some activities (like mushrooms and LSD) or plan for silence (like DMT)? Will I want a music playlist? If so, would I aim for ambient/structureless like I would with mushrooms or something with words/joyful like I would MDMA? Anything else I should set out like trippy lights, singing bowls, art supplies? Or will I just be on the couch with my eyes closed?

I like it in the dark laying down with closed eyes. When everything lines up with ketamine you can really travel and that’s what I am going for.

Low doses you can be social etc and it can be empathic but not like mdma.

I like a playlist with fairly ambient music. Sometimes my wife puts on kirtan music and that’s always turned okay for us.

We have a Ketamine subforum which you should check out. I've worked with this wonderful medicine a fair bit and while my experiences might not relate to yours, I found it best to work with it in a dark, quiet room, laying down on a comfortable surface. Emptying your bladder before the experience is also a good idea, especially if you're aiming for a K-hole. Music sounds horrible to me on ketamine, even music I adore while sober. It gets terribly distorted and feels like an intrusion into a sacred space dedicated to silence and deep self-reflection.

And most of all, be prepared for some proper weirdness. In a good way.

I dunno, Daft Punk's "Homework" was pretty awesome after a line or two of K. After that, the walls and floors of my house turned transparent, so I could see into my living room while crawling up the stairs - you're right about things getting weird!

Yeah, weird doesn't even begin to describe what a true deep K-hole experience can be like lol, I think I've had only a couple of really deep ones and no amount of poring over language would suffice to even approach describing it :D

And it seems like for some people music sounds ok on K, but not for me. Perhaps it's from the specific isomer of Ketamine I was consuming, perhaps it's something on a personal physiological/psychological level.

Those of you who lay when taking it, which seems to be the best, do you lay sideways or in the recovery position? Or are you still conscious enough of your body that there would be no significant risk of choking on any possible vomit? (I have no experience with ketamine)

IME it doesn't really matter how I lay down because I lose any and all sense of my body anyway, but if you are concerned about emetic asphyxiation, then assuming the recovery position would be ideal. It seems like some people almost always purge on Ketamine, and others never do it. So far I've been in the second camp, for which I am grateful. I've never felt a sliver of nausea even on very large doses of Ketamine. Start low and slow, and listen to your body. If you notice any presence of nausea, then always opting for the recovery position under larger doses is preferable. Even more preferable would be to have a sitter.

i just remembered =now= how my friend was yacking his guts up in the bathroom while I synergized with the film....

I was surprised that it caused any nausea whatsoever!
