[Advice] Drip or Recrystalisation?

Hello Nexians,
throughout my experiences with my wonderful GVG I started to notice these kind of "souvenirs".

I'd like to know from your point of view what it could be? Drip? Recrystalisation? Something else? Is it normal or am I applying too much heat?
I am using the ceramic diffusor from the Classic VG instead of copper mesh and keep the tip of the torch flame ~1cm from the top of the pipe. I am always getting very thick, milky vapor but am curious whether I am burning my spice.

Imho this is condensed vapor, which formed Xtals again. If you'd burn it, I think there would be some brownisch stuff between the xtals, as I have seen it on my lauchning device.

I belive that's absolutly normal for vapor to condense on colder surfaces. I also belive that you are doing perfectly fine.

Yea, no matter what you do a little bit of vapor will always crystallize on the inside of the pipe. Though it does look very beautiful, I try to keep mine fairly clean in order to avoid the chance that I might vaporize some of the leftovers in addition to whatever dose I loaded intentionally.

Rinsing with IPA, acetone, ethanol, or vinegar a couple of times will clean it out nicely. If using IPA, acetone, or ethanol; one can even evaporate the solvent and retrieve the leftover DMT if they so choose. :thumb_up:

This is a big relief guys as I have been playing around with my technique trying to have it spot on before doing the next big step. I've also had problems breaking through a couple of times so I was searching for things that I've been doing wrong because my vapor is not always as milky as other people describe it.

I agree that they are indeed beautiful but I am cleaning my GVG after a few journeys and using Aceton so as to not waste any of the spice

Also Entheogenerator I've read that you are placing the ceramic deffusor on the lip of the GVG. I've found that after slighty grinding the VG stone to a smaller size and placing it in the "normal" spot is a lot more efficient for me in terms of break through. Unfortunately I am not able to post in the appropriate "Good Bye Chore Boy Thread" but I'll be sharing my experiences as soon as I'm out of the newbie zone.

Could you elaborate on the reason that you feel this way? I have found that personally, when the disc sits on that little lip, it makes it much easier to clear a dose in one hit.

Yes, I'd like to compare our results because you seem to be the only one that is using the technique. Actually I have to thank you for bringing it up because you were my inspiration for using the VG Diffusor as a carrier of DMT.
Anyways I conducted the experiment with 2 people.

We were using the same spice @ 25mg smoking the DMT at 20.00 every day for 8 consecutive days. 4 days on the "lip", 4 days on the "ground".
The observer always noticed a much quicker, thicker vapor build when it was on the ground making it a lot easier to clear the DMT in one hit, while when the stone was on the "lip" the pipe was often still filled with vapor when we were done with the hit. (10 second long, slow draw)
Objectively we were able to go "deeper" with the ground technique than with the "lip" one.

This can be traced back to our technique but it just seemed to work better. Also the crystallisation was notibly more visible when using the "lip" technique.

Our idea why the "ground" technique works better for us is because when the stone is sitting on the lip it's a lot closer to the other diffusor thus heating up a lot faster and aggressively. Unfortunately the vapor remained greyish while when the stone was on the ground it was thick and milky.

Your reasoning that the air will have to go through the stone and is a lot more efficient seemed logical to me but in the field test the other one worked better for us.


I'd like to hear your thoughts on the subject.

I have the same "luxury" problem, I wash it out with IPA and recrystallized it.

It is possible to fully clear the vapour in the pipe. Pull up the top part at the end of your toke to pull through plain air and this won’t happen. The top isn’t noticeably hot [the way I work at least].

Ahhh a Connaisseur of DMT in GVG! Thanks for the advice d*l*b. Unfortunately by the time I finish my hit I don't remember having such thing as hands.

I think it probably just comes down to preference/ technique. When the lower ceramic disc is closer to the ceramic filter being heated, the spice can definitely be vaporized faster. This way the GVG fills with very dense vapor, then the top plug is pulled in order to clear the chamber. Personally, this has worked better for me than in the past when I had a smaller disc sitting lower in the bowl, and therefore farther away from the ceramic filter.

I agree with you Entheogenerator, it's all about own preference/technique probably even the lighter. I'm using a Volt lighter and had problems breaking through with my technique and the lip position but now I can do it easily every time on 25mg.
Anyways thank you for bringing the VG diffusor trick up, it helped me a lot on my exploration through hyperspace.

I’m sure this used to be the case with me, I’ve noticed recently that I have enough to clear the pipe and put it somewhere safe most of the time. At that point I am in a bit of a state of shock and quickly slipping into another dimension though!
