Advice on smoke device.

Hey all. I’m currently smoking out of a “meth pipe” but finding it hard as haven’t used one before. I have made a little bowl for a old bong a had, steel wool, 2 screens and more steel wool. Will this be ok, and how far should I be holding the flame?

Well, I heated the bowl. Dumped the stuff in, it melted straight away. I the. Proceeded to use the bong as normal keeping the flame just above the steel sponge. For me it seems to work a lot better.

I got it all I think in one hit, it was so much smoother. So I think I am not burning it, just need to wait on my scales to get experimental properly

One question do you think my technique is ok or should I maybe take the first steel sponge out and dump it in that screen the replace steel and heat?
