I must be missing a step. Doing the basic A/B extraction I always end up with great white crystals from freeze precipitation but they are growing on a thin sticky yellow film which makes it difficult to harvest the crystals cleanly.
It's kind of trivial because the harvest is still awesome but I'd like to clean it up.
Any explanation as to what I am missing and how to eliminate this film?
Recent attempt to "wash" the spice was odd. I heated up the goo and the crystals till I had two layers, yellow goo and naphtha. Pulled the naphtha (~ 20 ml). Put in the freezer 14 hours, nothing. So the crystals I had went back into the goo instead of the solvent.
I may have answered my question by further reading in the faq's. I may have simply been harvesting to soon! My next batch I'll let it dry for 24 hours instead of just 12 and see if that allows the goo to harden up and I can then scrap the crystals.
