Hello all,

I am a DMT newborn so to speak, and from everything I have been reading, the deeper you go, the less you remember. I was just wondering if there are any veterans out there that can relay some tips on clarifying the experience and/or remembering it better.
Though I have had a great experience, I still have pre-flight anxiety as well, so any tips, or little personal rituals that you find help the experience I would be grateful for.

I don't think this qualifies as a tip but it's something I do as soon as I can. After u breakthrough there's that few moments where you don't realize you're there and you're just watching. Once I realize what's happening (though I barely recall 'me' as an ego; more as a conciousness) I tell myself I must remember, I must recall this for later. So far it hasn't worked at all but I think it's good to note that I don't do this on purpose, it just starts to take place.

The hard part about any psychedelic experience is the fact that once we return we try to place what we've experienced into terms our everyday mind understands we run into problems. It's because we are used to this set of words or these kinds of pictures. But what we see when we're 'there' is entirely different from what we are used to. How does one describe the emotion of a color that tells you not to be afraid acurately? You can't. It's just too difficult.

I've heard of taking sub-breathrough doses to stimulate your mind. I forget what the term is but drunken recall is all I can pull out of my head. Being in the state you were in when you experienced the initial event may stimulate that memory.

I hope something here helps. I'm pretty adament on being able to recall too. Maybe you just get lucky.

Edit: also if I have anxiety (always) I breath for a while before and it usually takes me an hour or so to prepare knowing I'm embarking on a journey like this. Then right before I go I take a 'prep' hit. A small dose that will get the fire started but not burn the house down. That ALWAYS takes the edge off for me.

Both my second and third time, I had a small amount of anxiety. I prepared in both cases by meditating first on what it was that I wanted to gain from the experience, then by trying to clear my mind (I do not profess to be any good at this, but I tried to the best of my abilities). I then followed with some breathing exercises. I have not had a bad experience with DMT so far using this technique, still it may be due to unrelated factors. Hope I have helped

a preparation small launch before is indeed helpful many times..

also using harmalas orally/sublingually before launching or vapping dmt after the peak of a mushroom trip are great for extending the trip, helping remembering and integrating (I hardly ever smoke dmt by itself anymore)

Ok, so far I have heard mostly that changa is the way to go...

That, and recalling right afterward in some form whether writing or talking about it.

Videotaping also sounds like a good idea. I tried that the first time I tried smoking, but I didn't do it right, or go anywhere so the tape was pretty dull... maybe Ill go back to that though, since when I returned from my first trip, my boyfriend said that I smiled a smile he had never seen before, and I wished I could have seen it too....

I will continue meditation beforehand, and recollection afterward.

Thanks everyone for your help, and the thread links...very helpful!
