Anyone else ever consider that extracting DMT is going to cause DMT plants to be made illegal?

Migrated topic.
First off, there's no way that any government could ban ALL DMT containing plants for as they say 'DMT is everywhere' - plus not all countries would care. Secondly, it is really hard for those living in a cold, wet, miserable weather plagued country (such as Scotland) to grow the 'tropical rainforest' plants - but hey I would if I could: although once a nice tek for phalaris appears!!!! I live next to fuckin acres of the stuff

If DMT containing plants become illegal I'll simply start butchering humans and start extracting it from their brainzzz!

That was a joke of course... killing humans is wrong!

I'd kill animals instead.

Again a joke... lol

But seriously, I don't think they could criminalize all the plants. I'm sure they've considered that already.

I dont see how growing our own plants would make much of a difference. If we all had grow operations of MHRB exactly how would that make things anymore low key? Simply ordering plant material that is legal to possess is not much different than growing a plant and harvesting the material. Either way trouble comes when the authorities find you making anything with intent to ingest out of these plants. If you grow your own plants and then get caught while in hyperspace it wont matter how you got the material as they can ban the plant itself either way.

They don't need to name them individually as the Controlled Substances Act already says "any material containing any quantity" of DMT has certain restrictions on it. It's waht you do or PLAN to do with them that moves them from "legal" to "illegal".
Don't mean to rain on anyones parade, but the US government has some decent lawyers, and they won't waste time naming each individual plant (or whatever; material is as broad a term as they need) as they discover that it contains a schedule 1 substance. It's already there in the law. That's why all this talk about grannies planting poppies in the flower garden is a waste of energy. Grannies don't (well, most grannies) have the INTENT that makes the poppies illegal.
I'm not saying the law is absolute and can't be challenged, just that the idea of naming each different species is a moot point. They don't need to.

I just wanted to point out that growing P. Viridis and P. Carthagenesis in the city is not a problem at all. I've grown both for many years in both the country, and now in major metropolitan city. I also grow all of my cactus (obvious) here as well. And if you simply cannot find a source for Psychotrias, I'm pretty sure you can grow one of the DMT containing grasses by the kilo in your basement under fluorescent lights.

I have never in my life purchased MHRB, and I never will. I will never buy a cactus again, and the vast majority of my collection was gifted to me from members of other forums. The commercialization of these sacred plants is saddening and maddening at the same time. Both your laziness and their greediness will one day end in all of our allies outlawed. BBB was a perfect example. And I may be steppin on toes here, but I find the advertisement in each thread for a suppler very distasteful.

I wouldn't mind being pointed in the direction of these p. viridis leaves of which you speak if you can?

This is a site a member of another entheogen site I go on mentioned.
He didn't buy from them yet, and I haven't purchased from them either, so please make sure they are legit, as I can't promise they are and would feel bad if you were scammed.
If they're not please tell me and I'll attempt to find you another source.

no.. i think talking about it openly is it ognna make it illegal.. and having extraction message boards...
oh wait where are we again?

I'm also aware that not all sources could be made illegal, as well as that we contain DMT.
However the government could always criminalize any plants that are commonly used, such as mimosa.
This would leave us with only plants that are hard to extract from or contain very little.

and I'm not saying I disagree with you guys, its just that a lot of you give no thought to extracting it. If you guys were to grow your own plant and extract it I would have no problem with that, just as I have no problem with half of you arguing with me, because I know you've put thought to it.

I've considered this as well.
Don't know if the government would consider this or not.
But I've definitely thought about this before, but just haven't mentioned it.

The government is aware and has been for a long time about what you can extract from plant materials (again I point to the issues going on with BBB). Our extracting is not going to change anything, regardless of whether we get it from a vendor or grow our own. What WILL change things, to my mind, is reckless use and over exposure of said reckless use. This is clearly what happened with salvia, despite the fact that no one was extracting from it. This is also what happened in the 60's/70's, where the youth movement adopted these substances and their use and exposure rocketed from nothing to a relatively large percentage of the population. With such visible use, the govnerment was able to enact fear-based legislation fairly easily.

Responsible and "quiet" use of these substances is the only thing that will keep us off the government's radar (or at least keep us as the tiny blip we already are). Right now the prescription pill and meth epidemics are of much greater concern, as they should be. As long as people dont go running through the streets screaming about dmt extractions (or posting irresponsible youtube videos) or get caught selling spice we should be left alone more or less. It's not the greatest situation, but hopefully CEL can start to change that through raising awareness.

^ Agreed, the governments know about these grey area psycadelics, they have for a long time. Same with poppy pods, they know people are making tea out of them, but they are overwhelmed with meth issues, percription diversion, and cocaine and heroin importations.

What will make plant ethnogens a problem will be exposure. People getting into accidents or dying becuase of reckless behavior. Youtube, concerned parents, reckless behavior. and ironically, "spreading the word" are our worst enemies in terms of drawing attention to ourselves.

Even a big brutist Terrorist organization like the D......E......A....... has to prioritize their efforts, and even They have to work within a budget. Busting citizens making a few grams of personal use DMT would divert A LOT of their efforts on more pressing issues. I don't see it happening in the near future unless someone pushes REALLY REALLY HARD (concerned parents seeing their kids on youtube extracting/using/under the influence of plant based ethnogens).

phalaris grass extraction would be same as any a/b extraction, just more defatting needed to rid of chorophyls and other garbage. i think there are even some teks for it here on the nexus?

Illinois bundleflower is a good plant, easy to grow in cold climates, and also has high content. also happens to grow quite well and wildly nearby where i live :)

back to illeglizing all the plants containing dmt. its impossible, the end. don't worry. we would just have to move off of "easy" to get sources to harder to get sources (from MHRB to bundleflower or phalaris grass)

currently mhrb has a high content, and happens to be the most convienent source. yes, the over use of it will likely make it illegal.

and as far as getting degrees and doing legitimate studies, Dr. Strassman points out in his book that there is no way to get it done. he explains in detail his difficulties getting studies going. i'm sure there are many people trying the same things he did.

kitchen kemists that are indeed "legitimate" chemists and are able to do "illegal" studies in their kitchens/labs etc. are the ones that need to come up with underground studies that are well documented and then be willing to put their names and reputations on the line by PUBLISHING that information. that being said ill voluteer to be a test subject :)

I have a theory about this topic: Illegaling the plants would simply cause too much attention to be placed on DMT. There are already so few people that know about it, illegalizing it's source may only create an outcry and uproar. I believe it would cause a "people want what they can't have" problem and it would only cause more people to be drawn to DMT. There are so many plant sources that making them illegal would have to be a widely talked about issue that the media couldn't ignore, thus only advertising the wonders of DMT to millions.

I hadn't thought of that.

While fear of people finding out about it is probably not the only thing stopped the D....E....Assnuggets from cracking down on plants, it very well may be one reason it hasn't happened.

I am thinking that what happened with BBB is a possible sign of how the government is going to handle this kind of thing. The FDA undercover of codex alimentarius will be the one to step in and ban these plants and not only medicinal plant extracts, but nutritional supplements as well. I say stock up and do it while you can, because it very well could happen, the people in "power posistions" have been stripping us of our human rights for a long time, but that doesnt mean we should stop being humans.

get: a lot of phalaris grass
a wheatgrass juicer
an acid
a base
a nonpolar
a column
ethyl acetate and methanol
bestine

grind up some desiccant silica (really fine) for the column

just use the typical A/B tek.
Benzyme-
you seem to indicate that a column chromatographical type isolation (I don't know if that's how you say it) would be needed to process p.grass, could you provide a reference or explain further why a a/b as used for mhrb plus alot of defatting would not suffice.. or would it? is it needed to use a column to seperate various alkoloids present in (as extracted from) p.grass, as opposed to MHRB?

Possibly the seperation of 5-meo-dmt, gramamine, and DMT.

Grasses do not have the cleanest profile. To get a clean, purish dmt extract one would need a bit of extra work purifing...the skills of which I do not yet possess.

from what I heard from another vendor who seemed to know what he was talking about..bbb was elling "reasearch chemicals" mixed into some of thier smoking products, and were being un-wise with thier advertisement and selling to local kids in kansas...that the DEASSMUNCHES didn't and probably wouldn't have busted him for botanicals alone. sounds quite reasonable to me

on the note of making these illegal...(this sometimes makes me more dissapointed and pissed than religions role in 'sheeping' humanity).. I think every one of us needs to take personal responsibillity for our actions, and make damn shure if we share it to impart the importance of that responsibility to those who are new to it and experimenting. and make shure that no-one induges to the point of having to make a hospital visit!!!...you would really be screwing all the ones who DO use responsibly....its really a shame but eventually it will prolly get shut down because of some stupid ass smoking while they are driving or some other assinine thing.
I feel these plants shouldn't be sold in headshops..I feel that is inviting trouble from youth who have no clue what they are dealing with

and yeah phalaris and desmanthus are so common there is no way they could ever effectively be made illegal...unless they treat it like they are the poppies and make a selective virus to wipe them out...personally thats when i fight for the plants...I'm shure there are others here who feel the same

That sounds like something I would not pay attention of from another vendor. I don't think a company as successful as BBB would need to resort to this. Also from what I understand is that the chemical in question was not yet illegal in kansas. That's not a reliable report of events that you have heard.
