Anyone make their own GVG?

Just curious if you did and how it worked out. I am having trouble finding the right parts to make it work. I was originally following this thread but either: 1) all the links are dead or 2) the person posting the links is not sure if they will fit together.

I have:

- J-Hook 14mm pipe
- 14mm to 18mm adapter
- 18mm health stone
- bunch of screens

Currently, after packing the substance, I have to stick the health stone on top so my only way to take it out is to push out all the screens along with the health stone from the bottom which is a pain to do everytime. I am trying to find a piece glass top no filter adapter such as this to fit this 18mm adapter but have had no luck.

If you have a homemade GVG, mind posting where you got the invidivual pieces as well as a photo if possible?

Get the GVG its the best your wont regret that. I wonder what is the difference in price in between GVG and all the parts you want to get or got already ?

Just build one of these hardware store vaporizing water pipe...
It only cost about 12 dollar sworks great..
I have since changed the bowl to a glass bowl that will fit perfectly into the brass tube..
I only use about one to one and a half inches of water in bottom...
Its made from a hard plastic water bottle and the water cools vapor preventing any melting of bottle...

That piece starway has in the bottle is called the key.
Very cheap & easy to make.
You can easily modify it to fit into a nice glass bong where the slider goes.

Thats right!:d ...I got the idea from the KEY!

But find i like using a simple glass bowl for vaping spice...

I used a thin peice of brass tubing and some plumbing fitings when that was made...

I like it because it filters and cools the vapor plus trapping any unwanted particles in the water keeping it from my lungs...

Still I like the idea of the glass vapor geni because it compresses a denser thick vapor with less air ..

If you want to make one remember to use a fairly stiff plastic water bottle..

Then to get the brass tubing in at the propper angle with a tight fit ...

Just [pre heat] the tubing and push the hot metal tubing [melting]..through the bottle at the prefered angle..

Doing it this way.. by heating the tubing causes a tighter stronger fitting hole for the tubing to stay in also alowing you to remove it for cleaning over and over..

DONT drill it!!!.. ...[after figuring out where you want it]...Melt through the bottle [keeping it at an angle]..with heated metal pipe stem will cause the plastic to mushroom inward to seal and hold the tubing better!...

So far I have spent roughly $40. I don't feel like spending $100 on something that can break so easily. Once I have a homemade GVG that works, I can afford to buy another one and that will still cost less then the cost of one official GVG.

That looks sweet. Just a few questions...

1) How exactly does The Key vaporize? I just don't understand... OpeningPandorasBox said "almost ZERO smoke is created even with the most vigorous heating" but I don't see how that is possible. The top part just contains a few screens which is what stops it from combusting?
2) Where did you get that brass downstem and how did you know it was going to fit the bowl?
3) Did you do an acetone wash of the brass bowl before hand? If so, do you just rinse it in acetone or do you have to scrub it?
