This post is about the use of toasting plants/herbs and more imperatively about making them into an ash to potentiate their properties. I bring this up as someone curious with questions about how to properly do this as well as why it works.
I come upon this inquisitive thought process with my introduction to the snuff called Rape'. It is made by the Yawanawa peoples of Brazil with tribe family ties to the Kaxinawa and overall Pano family. The Rape' blows my mind because it is grey and appears to be all ash. And yet it is visionary and very much seems to have DMT qualities to it. It definitely has Nicotiana Rustica in it but the other herbs are guarded with spiritual zelousness and the recipe is concealed by the Paje's/Shaman's.
So my question: What is going on here? How can making a plant into an ash potentiate the properties. And how does Virola snuff work in combination with the Ash of Justicia Pectoralis and/or the ash of Theobroma Bicolor? What is going on here, and I am completely baffled and mystefied. I would like to make Virola snuff (yes I know where to source non stripped Virola Theiodora) but I don't know how to make the ash properly. What should I do I wonder, just burn it?
I call this Ash ense because to me it reminding me strangely of flower essence in bringing the actual qualities of the medicine out more pronounced and uniform. Last night I made a bad but good mistake of snuffing Rape' while on Taohuasca (Rue/Acacia Confusa) and it brought me this idea to Ashense.
If anyone can shed some light I would deeply appreciate it as I believe this technology to be paramount to breaking through with Snuffs. The Sanema have it down pat and if you do a youtube search for Sanema and Virola a Bruce Parry video will show up.
Other recipes are for the Nu-Nu of the Matses using a 50/50 combo of wild Nicotiana Rustica and the inner bark ash of Theobroma Bicolor. And the other one I am aware of is Tsune'...This snuff is on the list of the best 10 medicines of Brazil. It comes from the Yawanawa tribe. Made with the ashes of a bark mixed with mapacho (from Giovanni Lattanzi's site where he sells it).
Again any insight would go a long way I believe.
Thanks,
