Greetings friends,

I have been smoking dmt regularly (couple sessions per week give or take) over the past three or four months. I have pretty well nailed down my vaporization technique to the point that I've been getting very powerful breakthrough journeys (complete out of body with full interaction with the elfs / beings) with small doses (estimated 25-30mg of NN-DMT) in one big hit. Regular trips beyond the veil have not been a problem until this week. Suddenly I can't get anything more than mild to moderate visuals regardless of the dose. The breakthrough has been completely elusive for the last few sessions.
I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this sudden degradation in effect. Could the dmt suddenly have gone bad? Have I built up a sudden tolerance? Is this just another one of the spice's Peculiarities?

I used to have this problem quite a bit. I believe it was my vaporization technique, but I also gave myself a few weeks without any spice and that may have helped.

Also, I don't know if you are using any other psycadellics, but there is a cross tolerance between DMT and other tryptamines and MDMA.
 
Thanks acolon_5. I'm pretty sure my tech hasn't changed, but I suppose it is possible that I'm just doing something slightly different and overheating it or something.
Regardless - I'll take your advise and take some time off. It's good to know that I'm not the only one who has had this issue.

Yeah, it was so frustrating not being able to enjoy the veil or a breakthrough. I still haven't gotten my veil back, but breakthroughs are a lot easier.

I was using The Spice 2-3 times a week as well as monthly mushroom and/or various other tryptamine and phenethylamine psycoactives. A break from everything really helped out.
 
Yeah, I'm a bit of a shroom nut as well, but haven't been using them at all for several months. But the spice... oh how I love the spice! :) I just enjoy visiting those little guys so much! I was at a point before this "tolerance" thing happened that was experiencing what I call "The Elf Wars". There seemed to be some sort of non-violent stuggle for power or dominance between the various entities. They seemed to argue and "battle" for who got to interact with me and teach me on the various visits. I also remember them arguing over how much was OK to show me on a particular visit. I have been so excited to get back to them, but alas... I must be patient. I just feel like they are wondering why I haven't been back.

One very peculiar thing that happened right before I "lost" the breakthrough was a crazy dream that I had. In my dream I was standing at the sink, brushing my teeth. When I looked up at the mirror I went into a full-blown, fully visual and physical spice episode. No doubt in my mind that it was an actual heavy dose release from my brain. It was actually a little frightening in my dream because I knew I hadn't ingested any. I remember consciously thinking "what have I done to myself"? Perhaps that was the warning to take some time off, and I should have heeded it with a bit more concern.

This is not all that unusual. It has happened to me and pretty much all of my friends that have smoked spice more than a few times. Terrance McKenna spoke of this phenomena as well.

One thing that I think helped me out was piracetam. 2 grams a day really helped diminish the tolerance issue and made it much, much easier to break though. Bulk Nutrition carries it for really cheap. It's really good for mental health, but also potentiates the effects of phenethylamines, such as mescaline, MDMA, 2C-x's, and some tryptamines.

Thank you so much brother! I have abstained for about 4 weeks. I got my Piracetam about 2 weeks ago and have been taking approx 2grams per day. Tonight was my first breakthrough since my last post. not just a breakthrough, but very powerful... I've learned not to abuse this precious spice, and thank you so much for your input! I hope others will learn from this thread!

2 gr a day seems not that much, so I guess that the main improvment comes from the 4 weeks of abstinence.
It would be interresting to see if loss of breakthrough may happen again while on piracetam.
Are there negative side effects with piracetam ?
 
It could have been a number of things really, however I had previously taken a similar break w/o the piracetam and still was getting little to no effect. Honestly, I thought my spice had just gone bad. I could take triple back-to-back whopper hits and get nothing more than slight visuals. I can't say at this point how much, if at all, the piracetam helped, but my gut feeling is that it played a significant role, especially since acolon_5 noticed the same benefits from it.

From the research I've done on piracetam it really is quite an amazing drug / supplement. It has repeatedly been proven in university and clinical tests to actually increase and revitalize brain activity, and even reverse damage from drugs and alcohol. All studies that I have researched specifically commented on the drugs low to zero side effects. It is a drug though, and should certainly be researched before diving in. Personally I've notice other benefits of taking it as well, such as improved concentration and understanding of complex concepts. This could be placebo effect, but I'm generally a skeptic, so I'd be surprised if it was entirely so.
 
After looking back at the date of my original post, the abstinence delay was actually about three weeks as opposed to four. I guess it just felt longer :)
 
given the chance ill smoke it most nights like...

but as I said, all my dmt is n-oxide atm.. :(

that somehow doesnt sound wise to me.. taking something else to be able to use the spice for breakthrus. if the spicespace is controlled by an intelligent entity i could imagine that this entity also has control over who enters its realm and who doesn't. one should not push it with psychedelics. patience is the key to happiness.

Bulk Nutrition. Piracetam and Aniracetam are the two that I use and have helped me out quite a bit...not only for psycadelic potentiation, but also for memory function, energy, and overall brain health.

From what I perceive, these reports you linked to have to do with people dosing heavily on Piracetam (i.e. using it to get "high"), and using very high doses. In my opinion, Piracetam should not be used in this way. Small doses, like two to four grams per day is a healthy, mind revitalizing dose, that may potentiate DMT, or simply reverse tolerance and / or damage from other drugs. Piracetam should not be used as a psychoactive drug! It is meant to be taken as a daily supplement, in small doses, to help the brain recover and develop. If you know people who are taking huge doses in an effort to get high, I'd caution you to suggest they read up on it some more.
 
I'm pretty sure those reports are people using pretty regular doses (around 2 grams), but having taken it within 2-4 hours of smoking the DMT.
