I dont think you should be brewing your own ayahuasca. only an experienced shaman in the brazilian jungles can use this sacred brew...:|
We are all Shamans. No one is more special than anyone else!
I thought that, then I met a shaman and realized and I no longer believe this to be true in any way.
I believe we are esoteric kitchen chemists.
The shaman I met is in his 60's been doing it for 30ish years and has an MD and a gorgeous voice though.
I do believe Pharma is just fine though for personal use.. I do believe people can follow instructions and make Aya.. I just don't believe that is what a shaman is.. To me it's like saying that qualifies someone to be a priest because they know how to pour wine.
It really depends on how you view this stuff.. are you communicating with a plant and getting lessons? Or are you extracting plants to cause a chemical reaction. I think this has to do with mindset.
In the end I can have a beautiful experience by myself.. I just feel like I can "take the whole thing" when I am with what I consider to a be a "shaman" as he has an MD and seems to know when people need to get pulled out of their own head for a bit.
It's about personal preference though, the other thing I've done aya 15sh times and pharma 5-6. I never get to hyperspace on pharma, but I do get a great night talking to the atman. Always nice to know what your greater self is thinking. Very therapeutic very eye opening, and usually you agree as it is you that is trying to change your mind on something.
As far as the original post : you are starting a journey, it will take you as seriously as you take it. Make sure you feel "completed" on any tasks before you begin, it will help keep your mind off of the mundane while under. Also, for personal risk reasons, remove anything from your house you would get in trouble for. It's way too hard to think about that properly if you are on a full dose.
Find a trip sitter who can just "be around" incase you need help with cleaning up or getting out of it for a few. In general they should not partake in conversations with you nor is it like an lsd trip sitter. They need to leave you be unless you really need help. As "you" are who you need to talk to. Mainly to help with more water, puke buckets, tissue paper, changing music etc.
I usually do MAOI way before DMT. This allows me to make sure that if there are any MAOI reactions I can handle them while semi-sober.
