Ayahuasca tolerance, is it possible?

nolo

Esteemed member
Hello friends, a long time ago I took a little ayahuasca two or three times a week, small amounts to do a little meditation, but for a few days now I have been taking the same amount or even More than before, I don't feel its effects, does anyone know what's happening? Thank you very much

Biologically there isn't at those time frames, but plenty stories of folks experiencing “denied access” when using DMT to often.

Never heard of the brew loosing potency. Can last for many years depending on how stored if no mould. (If long time and not frozen, give a boil to kill potential bacteria)

Personally I do get very short term tolerance when vaping DMT or changa back to back, but resets after an hour or so. Harmalas supposedly have reverse tolerance on perceived effect (ive been told, can’t confirm)

Not heard of it with Ayahuasca, though I've definitely had different perceived intensity on same dosages. Can simply be difference to due tome between shaking and pouring (sludge settling)

Could be a perception thing, could be not enough MAOI, could be many things. Are you shaking the bottle(s). The gold is in the sludge often.

What kind of brew is it, are you taking Harmalas and light brew separately? Traditional mixed brew with Caapi?

No tolerance to speak of ime, took it daily/near daily for 4 years straight myself, it always works lol. The main things i've found that people should take into account are dosages, timing between the Harmalas and DMT, the plant quality, and the brew quality, also making sure to take it on an empty stomach as food or sluggish digestion can throw off absorption. So long as the plants are good quality, the brews are of a thoroughly good quality, the dosages are known, and the timing is right, it'll work. I recommend taking the Harmalas first, waiting 30 minutes to an hour although i recommend an hour, and then taking the DMT. Often times when this stuff doesn't work right it's because the DMT wasn't properly activated, and even a low dose of DMT like 1 to 2 grams of Mimosa can be noticeable ime. It's relatively common for Aya to not work for people sometimes, especially as it's traditionally consumed (both plants combined together and consumed at the same time), which consuming it as it's consumed traditionally "can" work, obviously, but it's not as efficient as predosing the Harmalas, waiting for them to inhibit gut MAO-A more maximally, and then taking the DMT. And ime even a low dose of Harmalas can orally activate DMT, so i wouldn't say it's a dosage thing, i'd say it's either a timing thing or a plant or brew quality thing. Brews especially need to be done thoroughly and even then filtering/cleaning things up can also reduce potency sometimes if one isn't careful.

Ime effects depends largely on set and setting, and also on frequency. lf the force is still with you, the effects will be more subtle for a time. When people drink in a ritual setting together, with the same dosage, the outcome is always really variable. Even the same person will have different experiences with the exact same dosage from the same batch one day or another. It is psychological in nature more than pharmacological in my opinion.

You can always pump up a little bit the dosage when you want the effects to be more strong.

Tolerance isn't the best word maybe, but of course you can get immunised to the brew I'd you take it daily and the effects will be more subtle than when you take it only from time to time. It will work on another level, yet surely still influence your meditation practice.

Diet plays a role too of course. And dosage. And set and setting.

I am a small lightweight person but I need almost two times the quantity than other people around to get where they are.
Assuming that your brew is stored well, try maybe a little bit more next time or go for a break just to see for yourself if it makes any difference.
