ayahuasca vs. smoking DMT

Migrated topic.
I am planning to take ayahuasca and I was wondering if it is like smoking DMT, but for longer.

And any advice would be welcome. Thanks

It is very much like that although the dose can make it weaker or stronger than smoking.

Since DMT alone or DMT containing brews cannot be orally take (eaten) for an experience a reversible MAOI (all mentioned are reversible, not true MAOIs) has to be taken to allow the DMT to work orally.

Just note that Ayahuasca would be taking a DMT containing plant and brewing then consuming with a MAOI brew
while Pharmahuasca would be taking extracted DMT and an MAOI, brewed or extracted.

Each is just a different method of getting the same chemicals into you, the brews will have much more semi-active chemicals that can cause nausea and/or add to the experience.
In both cases it is very common to vomit or "purge"

Because of that fact you will have 2 psychoactive substances in you, not just DMT so the choice of MAOI will impact the "flavor" of the trip.

The most common MAOI are:

Plants:
Syrian Rue (peganum Harmala) - Brewed or Extracted
~More sedating and "less friendly" than the others, though by far the cheapest and most potent.
Dose: 2-3 grams dry, or the filtered/reduced brew of 2-3 grams (tastes NASTY). If extracted 100-200mg

Caapi (banisteriopsis caapi) - Brewed most of the time
-More euphoric and "friendly" than rue, though a large amount of product will need to be brewed.
Dose: on the very low scale 15-20g. Though 50-100g is generally the norm. Brewed and reduced to 1/2 to 1 cup usually.

Pure products:

Harmaline
-The main MAOI in syrian rue. Most sedating of the harmalas, also most potent.
Dose: 50-100mg should do it

Harmine
-Contained in syrian rue but the main MAOI of caapi. Less sedating, more euphoric.
Dose: 100-200mg

Tetrahydoharmine
-One of the MAOIs contained in caapi. Stimulating and very euphoric. Highly reccommended by many.
Dose: 125-250mg

Moclobemide
-A prescription drug that is an MAOI like the others, not a whole lot of info on it except it does the job.
Dose: 150-200mg

Most of this information is read from the forums, the only personal experience SWIM has is Syrian Rue with full spectrum DMT dissolved in vinegar (pulled with d-limonene from MHRB)
It was very sedating and VERY VERY strong. Make sure to start low with the DMT dose, the harmala doses are very consistent among humans but the DMT or DMT containing plant brew dose varies IMMENSELY.
Were talking 30mg-600mg for the same trip in different people.

SWIM's experience sent him just as far as 3 of his strongest smoked DMT breakthroughs for at least 2 hours. Make sure to have a sitter because whether you have any hidden pain or if you are the happiest person on earth there is a chance during the peak where you can forget you are alive at all. Of course that would be on a very high dose, but nonetheless have a sitter and be careful.

Ayahuasca is in many ways comparable with smoked DMT.
Yet, there are many differences.

First: there are many possible brews, each with it's own unique quality.

The MAOI part as well as the source of tryptamines determine the outcome of your experiments.

Basically, caapi is the most pleasant source of MAOI's, and it will also bring you the most beneficial experience.

I recomend you take caapi instead of rue.

Many people even apreciate caapi alone as a very sacred entheogen.

Then the tryptamine's: You can take pure DMT, use MHRB (jurema), psychotria vridis (chacruna)or diplopterys cabrerana (chaliponga)or maybe even another source.

Each will have it's own distinct effect.

Chaliponga contains 5-MeO-DMT as well and brings more challenging experiences with visions less briliant but almost tangible.
Mimosa will give a spectacular visual experience and psychotria will be a bit in between the two.

Ayahuasca is special. It gives you a DMT style experience, but much more. That special extra thing it has cannot be described in other words than 'divine', 'sacred', etc.

What those words mean exactly, can only be experienced though.

Well said, couldn't agree more.

pharma isnt ayahuasca..neither is a brew with rue..ayahuasca requires the caapi vine IMO..

It would be neat to see each one recognized as its own sort of thing..ayahuasca requiring caapi...haoma requiring rue..and then pharma, which itself can varry..

DMT is just part of the ayahuasca experience. It sort of opens up the world, after which the Caapi takes you further. Or something like that...

It's kinda hard to describe :)
