Bad Syrian rue

Bought some rue at a local Persian market. Seeds were slightly darker than those bought on online ethnobotanical vendor sites. Chewed one and it was sort of soft. Do they still have alkaloids? Are they good enough? Does rue quality vary by much? Can it be bunk rue? Yes I'm sure it's rue. Aren't rue seeds super hard? Will it still work?

Are there large variations in the potencies of different Rue bought at different places?

Dont be so insecure.. UV black light to check for alkaloids or try and extract it. Else you never know the content.

i remember people saying they bought esphand from a persian market and it was potent.

Try doing a small extraction. It's super easy and a fun process to learn. That should allow you to crush any questions about content.

I've only ever used Esphande from markets. It works quite well. I have also noticed the different shades between brands and also timing. Golchin always seem darker than Sadaf. And both seem to be darker when "fresher".

Could I tell you the results from different brands? Nope. I mix them all together for storage.
