BLAB step 4A problems

Hello everyone,

A friend of mine followed Q2121 exactly and decided to use the BLAB step 4A to extract the DMT using FASI solution. When he put the first 10ml of saturated solution in with the d-limonene the entire volume turned cloudy white. He added another 10ml ten minutes later and could see it getting more cloudy but by the time he added another 10ml it was a complete white out. The jar looks like a glass of milk with no layers. It's been 40 minutes and it's still completely cloudy... should he wait until the net day to see what happens?

The d-limonene was pretty yellow and partially cloudy to begin with. It was around 400ml of d-limonene before he started with the FASI.

any help or suggestions are appreciated..

stick it in the fridge and wait a few days, then test with a few drops of fasi.

Thanks. my friend reports that it looked only slightly cloudy this morning. After adding just a few drops it went back to a complete white out. Does anyone think this could be from too much DMT present in the mix? This was the combined pulls from 4 separate batches. Each batch is 100G's and he waited over 24 hours before doing the first pulls... each batch was pulled with 200ml of d-limonene and he's estimating that only 100ml of d-limonene was extracted from each batch. Maybe this is why it was so cloudy? As of right now he says that he isn't seeing any crystals and mostly goo at the bottom... This was made from ACRB so he's not surprised.

What would be the problems with adding too much FASI?

It could lead to an impure result: a mix of DMT and fumaric acid which is not a dangerous for health (oral ROA) but makes difficult the dosing.

Read the BLAB tek again, you're doing fine. It takes a few days up to a week to fully crystallize.

If you added more FASI and it got cloudier again, keep adding some more. Wait some more days. Then you should have some crystals which you can decant/filter away from limo.

Thanks for the help guys... After a few days, My friends back to very clear yellow mix.. He doesn't see any layers just some yellow goo on the bottom. He added a few drops of FASI just to see and it didn't cloud up, just reacted very squiggly and dissipated. He added 200ml of DMT saturated d-limonene thinking that that might help... It went full clound and he shook the jar for 5 straight minutes.... I don't know whats wrong with him. He's probably going to give this 5 days of sitting in the fridge while he researches how to get his DMT back out of his failed attempt with FASI... He's stick with Vinegar extracts and goo... He REALLY wanted to get his hands on some crystals but has failed with Naptha and FASI :?

The squiggliness i think means no spice is left to precip. Thats the same way mine went after all the oil dropped out.

Wait a week or so to see if anything crystallizes.
The goo should have your dmt in it.

Read the blab step 5a. About halfway through it tells you what to do if you get goo.

The oil i got just seemed to get thicker & not dry but on scraping it up it turned a peanutbutter color, started to dry fast, & then turned into a yellow powder.

Does someone know...can I use acetone instead of IPA to mix with fumaric acid in step 4a? IPA is much more expensive.

Also, in step 2 the instructions are to add 1.75 litres of water after adding caustic soda solution. If I no longer have room in my container can I add less water?

Yes you can use acetone.

How much is 'less water' ? If you add too little water, it will be very thick and when mixing the limonene it might make separation more difficult. You can try, and worse case scenario you get another container and dilute it. Or just scale the whole thing down proportionately.


and late answer to CEVOEV, you should never shake after adding FASI/FASA, that's written in the tek, add it slowly and just let it crystallize over a couple of days without moving it around, otherwise you wont get a nice crystallization.

Thank you again endlessness...I just read on FAQ about using less water and thickness being a possible issue. I think it might be too. I didn't understand the purpose of the extra water but now I do. Great I can use acetone. Alcohol tax here is through the roof, which is probably why IPA costs $11 for 250ml!! Cheers mate
