Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some community insight on a recent experience. I'm trying to understand if I experienced a blackout from a high dose/high efficiency, a sudden sensitivity issue, or if my administration technique needs adjustment to achieve a proper, classic breakthrough.

Setup & Parameters

  • Mod: Geekvape Aegis Mini
  • Atomizer: Mesh Pro RDA with extended drip tip
  • Mesh: SS316L e-mesh
  • Settings: TC-SS mode @ 204°C (400°F) | Max Power: 30W
  • Dose: 25mg yellow N,N-DMT (stored in a freezer with desiccants and oxygen absorbers; ~6 years old, but highly potent at 15mg doses with intense OEVs).

Technique & Execution

  1. Premelted the spice onto the mesh.
  2. Put the cap on, exhaled fully, and began a slow, steady inhale.
  3. Pressed the fire button ~0.5 seconds after initiating the pull and inhaled continuously over 10 seconds.
  4. Dropped the mod onto a pillow and held the vapor.
Note on past attempts: In earlier runs, my main mistake was exhaling too early (I’d see dense vapor on exhale and realize I hadn't absorbed the full dose—giving me crazy OEVs, but no breakthrough). This time, my goal was to hold it for as long as comfortable (20+ seconds).

The Experience

My wife was trip-sitting me throughout.

As soon as the 10-second inhale finished and I put the mod down, I intended to count slowly to 20+. Instead, I immediately blacked out. I suddenly felt like I wasn't breathing anymore.

According to my wife:

  • I was breathing fine the entire time.
  • For about 3 minutes, I appeared anxious, with small body movements, tensed hands, and rigid posture.
  • When I eventually exhaled (after holding it), zero vapor came out, indicating near 100% absorption.

The Recall

All I can recall is a brief split-second flash: I was shown a room containing simple objects. I had the strong intuitive presence of "something" showing me this room, though no entities were visible. A split second later, I was back in my physical body in the room.

What was missing: No humming/vibrational frequency, no tunnel/membrane, no chrysanthemum, and no distinct "waiting room" phase.

My Questions for the Nexus

  1. Was 25mg on a tuned e-mesh simply too much?E-mesh setup is notoriously efficient. Since 0% vapor was wasted on exhale, did I effectively get a 100% bioavailable dose that pushed me straight past the breakthrough window into a blackout? (I see reports of people using 30–35mg on e-mesh, but could my setup just be running much more efficiently?)
  2. Timeline / Duration:I was back to baseline awareness within about 3 minutes. Isn't a standard breakthrough typically longer (around 5–10 minutes)? Or is a fast onset/offset typical for direct, zero-loss e-mesh vaporizations?
  3. The "Blackout Band":I've read that the breakthrough state sits in a narrow band between sub-breakthrough hallucination and full amnesia/blackout. Does this sound like a classic "over-shot" dose where memory formation simply ceased?
  4. How should I calibrate for my next attempt?Should I drop back down to 15–18mg with this exact e-mesh technique, or adjust my breath-hold / temperature settings?
Any guidance, experiences, or advice from experienced e-mesh users would be greatly appreciated!

I use a glass pipe, not e-mesh, but as someone who has had a similar issue, I recommend that you reduce your dose to a low (say 15mg) one, and very gradually increase it from there.

However, not remembering what happened doesn't necessarily mean nothing happened. I often return from breakthrough trips not remembering what occurred, but convinced that something did.

Can you describe what was a blackout like for you? What was the dosage with the pipe? Then you reduced and were able to experience an actual breakthrough like shot out of a canon and other realms and beings, etc?

Dosage, we are talking 35mg or so.

I would return from the trip convinced that something happened, that I went somewhere, but unable to remember anything about it. However, each time I do so, I return with this pervading sense of "oh, it's like this, isn't it?"

More recently, I have calibrated things a little better. I have found that my breakthrough zone, if we shall call it that, is quite narrow. At 30mg, properly vaporised, I can remember at least some of my travels - interdimensional beings, all the rest of it. I still don't expect to remember it like what I ate for breakfast, though. Less than that, and I don't get there (although the closed eye visuals are beautiful). More, and I simply don't remember anything.

Interesting to know that for you to hit a breakthough there is a narrow band. Anybody else here experiences this narrow band?
