Brown DMT from Thick-Light's TEK

Using Thick-Light's TEK, this was obtained along with some light yellow/white spice. Would you consider this safe to smoke? It's a light brown color, has a very strong scat smell. I have done a few bio-assays using small amounts. 10-15 mg creates a body high, no visuals. When vaporized, it leaves a small amount of residue behind in the pipe. I don't know... What do you guys think?

It looks very clumpy in the picture because I had all of it stuffed tightly in a plastic vial.

Should be safe but I couldnt say for sure, leaving a residue isnt common must be some plant material in and maybe some base mix, why not do a mini acid base it will purify it?
Dissolve it all in minimal warm vinegar, leave it for an hour or so then rebase and pull with solvent again.

I want to avoid recrystallizing if possible. If I am smoking plant material and that's all I am fine with that, makes me feel like it's a more natural experience. I just want to make sure spice that looks like this is because of plant material (Acacia Confusa) and not something far more sinister.

Thicklights tek doesnt use anything sinister so it should be fine although it may be a tad harsh on the chest.
People eat and drink the whole plant with no problems and have been doing long before it became available worldwide to extract from.
So that leaves solvent, container materials and equipment.
Do you know if your solvent is clean? Does it evap without trace?
Were you using robust containers? Stainless steel/glass stirrers?

That's why dreamtripper suggested doing a mini a/b. If there is any base material in it you can be extra careful this time to only pull solvent. No way for anyone to look at said substance and say "hey that looks safe to smoke!". You would know this having done a little research.

If plant material made it into the final product, then it is possible that some lye made it into the final product as well. If you are concerned, then clean it up. If nothing else it will provide you with peace of mind.

It looks fine to me. A lot of oils can get pulled with A. Confusa and leave you with DMT of that color, and both lighter/darker - especially from the later pulls. The residue left in the pipe is likely the oils that began to come out with the DMT. Rinsing the pipe with rubbing alcohol, ethanol, etc will fix that.

I see no reason to suspect and lye or bark powder got into the mix, but as others have said, can't be sure from the pictures.

If you want to get into semantics, then yes I suppose DMT could be considered "plant material". But what I meant by "plant material" was raw particles of rootbark tissue. My point was that if any bark tissue made it into the collection jar upon removal of the nonpolar solvent layer from the aqueous solution, then it is likely that some volume of the basic (NaOH/H20) solution was removed with the nonpolar solvent as well.

Or, in short, if one's extracted DMT is contaminated with particles of bark tissue, then it is likely also contaminated with some amount of lye.

I know you can't tell by looking at a substance whether it is safe to smoke. I was just wondering if DMT of said color is normally created by plant material getting pulled in to the NPS. The solvent was evaporated and not freeze precipitated, if that matters. Also, if there is base mix in this, the lye wouldn't vaporize, correct?

All sorts of stuff can get mixed up in the extract if you evap all the way as some tannins and 'oil' and microfine fibres make it across to the solvent.
Lye wont vaporize but it may get airborne. Best way to test is to put a tiny bit on a fresh pipe screen and vape as you would then check for leftovers.
If theres a bit of hard black ash left then that is probably lye, if its nice and white and powdery ash thats usually just plant material other than alkaloids. I posted a link for you to read its all there.

Brown color can be the same as yellow color description above or it could also be that during the pulls, small droplets of the basified mimosa/plant liquid came across, which can mean harsh basic plant material and lye in your final product (this is usually associated with the dark naphtha issue, check FAQ for more info). It might be also some impurities from dirty chemicals/solvents used

You can get rid of most of the lye by crushing the extract to a powder and carefully submerging in minimal cold slightly basic water. Decant the water then add minimal cold water only then decant then dry.

This is borderline 'spoon feeding' so please read what links people have given you.

Something hit me while reading this thread: Why are you all so paranoid about "unclean" spice? Think about what is in a typical nicotine cigarette: Burning plant material with hundreds of chemicals and known carcinogens.

Would some brown plant oils/fats from the bark of Mimosa kill you? Of course not. Early DMT was always brown or yellow. It's only recently that people have developed an obsession with white snow.

As long as it doesn't also have lye or solvent traces left, feel free to smoke that beautiful brown stuff!

Just did thick light tek with very similar results. I was very careful with separating and decanting so I think it's just full spectrum deliciousness!
