ok so my platypus posted awhile ago trying to pin down the best tek for cacti with available ingredients(food grade as possible) not completly strict on the food grade thing but def cannot have any suspect fumes or similar weirdness around..was previously looking at 69 rons limo mesc tek... forum side track and it got a little confusing with different ppls opinions, then life side tracked extract didnt happe.n but now it has begun and platypus found spicemans tek which looks pretty good...bottom line wants to get mesc salts from 500g of cactus powder with readily available ingredients... so far has mixed the powder with equal parts calcium hydroxide (based on the statement that one can readily use lime for base) then after doing this realized the "lime" spiceman refers to is calcium carbonate and the lime platypus had was calcium hydroxide...soo need to troubleshoot that are carbonate and hydroxide equivelent?....furthermore, on hand is distilled vineagar (5% acetic acid) d limonene, sunflower oil, so should platypus proceed with spicemans instructions or should variations be made for increased success?
 
I would tell your platypus to go with the d-limo, then salt with vinegar. Repeat extensively, then purify the final product with multiple anhydrous, ice-cold MEK washes.

The oil tek is still in its infancy phase for mescaline, and has not been extensively tested. AFAIK, only yatiqiri's SWIM has attempted it, and the results seemed a little disappointing...

69ron's d-limo tek is pure gold, but only if one performs the final MEK wash. If the MEK wash is ignored or fouled up, the results are often inconsistent and disappointing. SWIM has never had anything but great results with this tek...
 
but if one wanted full spectrum salts could one just not do the mek step...if the cleanup is nessisary could one use isopropyl instead?
 
No, iso will dissolve some of the mescaline. Kinda sucks - MEK is the only known solvent that will wash mescaline acetate. It does a really nice job of it though!

If SWIY wants full spectrum, he just has to combine all the pulls into one big goopy pile for dose standardization.

Chances are that some pulls will be goopy, and others will be nice and crystalline, and your platypus isn't going to want to mix the nice crystals with the brown goop.
 
ok update, 500 g cacti dry pwder mixed with 500 g cal hydroxide...ph 11 ish....hydrated to goopy oatmeal consistency...500 ml of limo mixed in gently put on low heat in crack pot...side note, platypus is getting ethanol for other things...i know you said mek is the only things that works but platypus tells me he wants to avoid anything that does not resemble food grade unless it is the only viable option..soo could one manage with ethanol? or would that eat mesc too:shock: also if the mesc is other like citrate or fumarate then would it work?
 
I think mesc HCL is the only one that can be washed with alcohol, but it requires an acetone wash as well to get it pure.

No... MEK is really the only solution for acetate. MEK isn't that bad of a chemical, comparatively - check out the MSDS. Seems almost as safe as limonene, acetone and IPA. It can be metabolized by the body in small amounts, and it is found in some fruit.

Mescaline citrate is promising I suppose, except that no one has a good way of removing the mescaline from the excess citric acid that comes along in the salting - wildly altering the dose range.

SWIM has gone over and over the possibilities, and come to the conclusion that 69ron's tek including the MEK wash is the only reasonable way to arrive at good mescaline - minimizing the non foodsafe chemicals one must use.

SWIY checked whether the crockpot lining would dissolve in the limonene right?
