Cactus identification question. Photo inside.

Hello everyone,
It's perhaps not the correct forum for cactus identification?
But:
About a year ago I was given a little bundle of dried cactus by a friend, he told me it is a mescaline cactus and didn't know any more.
Here it is:

Since joining this forum I have dug it out of the cupboard to try and get some more information.
I have never and will never indulge in anything without a lot of research and background, but before I can do that I need to know what it is.
Any ideas anyone? Does anyone even know what one would do with it?
Many thanks.

it does appear to be cactus skin

take a small piece and give it a little chew, if its bitter then you can be fairly confident you got the goods.

Ah, well I've only got about 6grams.
50-100g is quite a snack! HaHa.

I guess I'll hang on to it or maybe use it ritually as an offering in ceremony to tantalise the spirits...
Thanks though.

Local mushrooms are more my thing... I might do that. Alternativley can one smoke cactus?

I like your avatar, in India earlier this year I came across some ancient carvings in temples depicting "celtic knot" style designs rather similar to your pic. They were lovely!

Don't smoke cactus flesh, man..

HaHa. :d

I have spent some time drawing Metatrons Cube and the Sri Yantra before. They're wonderful tools. I've got a whole selection of silk embroidered T-shirts with Yantras on but I've not seen that one before, it's scrumptious!
