Hey guys So I just received a 15:1 caapi resin, and I was wondering if this could be used to make changa, and if you think the resin...

You would need to make sure it’s as freebase, so that means that probably need to convert it, I’m not sure this is resin or like an alcoholic tincture, if free from alcohol just dissolve in 15 ml of water and a couple drops of vinegar, when dissolved add ammonia until you see complete clouding of the liquid, set aside and filter out the precipitation and use as per recipe.

Yes you would need to make sure it is in freebase instead of acidic form, but i posit that it would not be potent enough for changa unless you further refined it. It sure could be used as an additive for more subtle purposes, but delivering an active dose of the harmalas, I don't think so. Good luck though and do let us know if you decide to proceed!

How would I go about turning it into freebase ?

You would disolve your acidic form into water (perhaps even a quick boil), Then saturate the resulting solution with sodium carbonate. Once converting to their freebase form, your harmala should no longer be soluable in that water, and will begin to crash out in the form of chrystals. This is your finished product, Pour the water off into a seperate container, and then collect and dry your chrystals. You can repeat this process again if you think your yield was insufficient, whatever you didn't get should still be in that water.

Then you would have a harmala extract more than potent enough for use in your changa!
Good luck!
