just a shout out to canadians. here is a small list of materials and where to find them. im just saying this to help out because i went through some trial and error with finding the right substances for extracting:wink:


lye - Home brand lye, found at most bigger home hardware's (i dont think the smaller ones carry it). $25 for 4 kilos

Naphtha - Escort brand, found at all canadian tires. evaps clean. don't use coleman's camp fuel as it contains rust inhibitors

HDPE jug - grocery store, look for the number 2 with arrows around it. look at some water/orange juice/apple cider/vinegar jugs. (vinegar jugs have a crap lid and ive just found out that it may leak)

Glass baster - i cant find one anywhere, please let me know if you know where to buy one other than online

I've had great sucess finding plastic basters at dollar store that are translucent. Maybe PETE, PET or HDPE, not sure. I just know that it deals with naptha with no problem as well as d-limonene.
I've used escort many times and 2 other ones that looked similar and smelled the same and they worked too. just with the escort DON'T GET THE GALLON. It smells like gasoline instead of naptha and leaves the smell after evaporating. Lucky they let me return it because of that.

If you really want a glass baster then take a look in those asian "dollar stores" which have stuff from like 50 cents to over 10 bucks. That is where I found one, I used it until I accidentally stepped on it *smash*

I know how hard lye is to find for sure, I found it at Home Hardware too.

I got a plastic one at the dollarama in ontario but it is cracking with the little ammount of lye that gets in

I found everything pretty well, but I don't think anyone really sells calcium hydroxide in Canada. I had to order that online. Same with fumaric acid.

no lime here..I ordered mine.
I have successfully based with sodium carb and then pulled with xylene..you have to learn to deal with emulsions to do it that way though.

I got my NaOH from a soap/candle making store here in the lower mainland... 908 grams for 10 bucks.
