Salvinorin A is best isolated from salvia trichomes by washing briefly with ice cold acetone. This minimises the carry over of annoying impurities like fats and chlorophyll. If the active component of coleus is similarly contained in trichomes, the same approach would seem preferable. There may, however be other compounds of interest in other parts of the plants anatomy.
