collection jars

After using Noman's tek, Swim has some questions about removing the spice from his collection jars. After freeze precipitation, swim pours the naptha into a jar to reuse. Once he used a coffee filter but the solvent was slow to filter through and he believes the spice started redissolving. He read here that some people dispense with using a coffee filter and instead just pour the used naptha into a jar and reuse it later, so Swim has been doing this. Sometimes there are floaties that will go into the jar of naptha that will be reused but he figures nothing is lost in the long run.

Swim would like to hear what methods you use to get as much of the spice as possible out of the collection jars.

Do you let the spice dry completely in the jars then attempt to scrape it all out? Or, do you use a rubber spatula while the spice is still soft with solvent and let it dry on a plate?

One more thing. As related in another thread, Swim did a hit a couple days ago layered in parsley. He doesn't have a scale (he knows he needs one), so he eyeballed some and had a much more intense experience than he expected, with oevs, loud carrier wave, etc. Swim would like to experiment with this approximate level of intensity a few times before attempting to break through.

Is it likely he will accidently break through as long as he only takes one large hit?

Thanks for reading and for any suggestions you can give.

I use pyrex rammekins as jars. Just put some cling film (saran wrap) over the jar when freezing. If the freezer is cold enough, the vast majority of spice sticks to the sides of the rammekin. Any floaters will stay in if you decant carefully, turning the rammekin as it empties.

I wait until it is completetly dry, then scrape thoroughly with a plastic spatula. As rammekins have better access than jars, the scraping is efficient and easy. I just add a little warm naptha to anything that is left, and add this to the decanted naptha to re use later.

As for the 2nd question, it's impossible to say unless you know what the dose was, so get that scale 😉

I don't get why people are using nomans tek when there are teks that are so much easier! I guess it is a tried and true method, hey do what you want. Swim. Freeze precipitates in a flat glass tray, then pours off the naptha for re use. It is very easy to collect the dmt from a flat tray. As for collecting the left over residue in jars, just wash them out with a bit of warm naptha, shouldn't need much at all, then pour it into a flat glass tray and evaporate on a windowsill with a fan blowing over the tray.
On the breakthrough thing, swim thinks you can break through on one full lungfull if you vape it properly and hold it for as long as you can.

Using ramekins sounds like a pretty good idea. Swim is using 8.5 ounce jars and it's kind of a hassle to get everything out. A tray would be easier still, but Swim was under the impression it's not a good idea to precipitate using an unsealed container.

Thanks for the replies, and a scale is on it's way.

nope. Swim either uses the tray he has with a lid, or just puts something flat over the top of the tray to cover it. The worst that could happen is a drop of water could fall in if you didn't cover it, you can just pick it out.. Or if it's to small/slippery then wait til u evap the naptha after pouring off the excess, if there is any water ( never is for swim since he started covering it) then just roll up a paper towel into a point and soak it up. Flat trays are soooo much easier to retrieve crystal from!

Insofar as the one hit thing goes, you can definitely get enough to break through - if your lungs are large enough, I guess. I was an international caliber, semi-pro road cyclist for a decade, and have kept very active after my "retirement", so one hit is sufficient to send me to hell/heaven, round the bend and back (read my recent trip report in the nursery "first steps" section). I had heard it takes three good ones, but that has not been my experience. Just be careful with the larger doses, especially if you are eye-balling it (and - yes, get a scale, underscore underscore!).

On a similar note, I hold the spice in for about 45 seconds. I don't know if I am alone in this, and don't know if its unnecessary, but it's what I had researched was necessary for salvia, so I carried over the habit. Could very well be that the spice is absorbed by the lung tissue and spurted into the blood stream long before 45 seconds is up, but old habits die hard!

Be safe.

It's like a lot of things, you can read about it all you want, but it isn't until you actually attempt an extraction that you experience the real learning curve, especially with the little things that just take some practice and trial and error. For example, one thing that helps immensely is to use a jug that's tapered at the top so it's much easier to get most of the naptha sucked up.

Jbark, Swim also held his hit in about as long as he could because of his (limited) experience with salvia. He probably held it close to 45 seconds also. By the time he exhaled, it was coming on pretty strongly. He's seen people mention holding it in for 20-30 seconds. Maybe this is enough to get most of it? It does seem like it would be most efficient to hold it in as long as possible.

I said earlier that a scale is on it's way but actually it's back-ordered for another week or so. Swim probably won't want to wait that long so another eyeballed dose may happen soon :). Thanks again everyone.
