concerns over what swim has extracted

swim had extracted dmt from mmhrb and evaporated the naptha. this was then smoked with great results. The dmt was a brown What I think people call spice. I then changed my extraction process and freeze precipitated crystals from naptha. the crystals looked great and smelt but not as strong as the spice. when swim smoked the new white crystals in a vaporiser pipe it melted and very little smoke could be seen. the smoke also seemed harsher and had little effect at 20mg. Swim is con
cerned it is not dmt. It is not dmt then what is it. or is it dmt and am I being paranoid.

Used sodium hydroxide to base after heating in vinegar. naptha was added left to settle for 2 hours then a pipet was used to pull the clear layer. this was frozen for 3 days. contents was filtered nice white fluffy crystals where produced. thanks

It sounds like the freezer did indeed precipitate nice clean white crystals, which in my experience are my favorite. The yellow/brownish stuff that is left over after an evaporation contains various other components besides the DMT. It may contain oils/tannins from the mimosa. Tannis tend contain other alkaloids and other organic plant materials.

As long as you evaporated the solvent fully in both cases i would say that you should have some pretty potent stuff. As far as not getting much vapor from 20mg white spice.... What type of vaporizer did you use? Did you use the same apparatus to vaporize both varieties of the spice that you pulled? I usually load up more than 20mg of white spice if i'm trying to blast off and I will get billows of vapor from just 35mg. Perhaps you didn't get it all vaporized or something?

Maybe the evaporated stuff is producing more vapor because of the other compounds that are left behind in the final product. Some of these other compounds are said to be psychoactive and many people prefer the more full spectrum spice like the yellow/brown stuff that you yielded in the evaporation. There are alot of discussions regarding this subject here on the nexus.

I personally feel like there is definitely a difference in effect between the pure white and the evaporated stuff. I think the pure white stuff is a little more crazy than the other. But all of this depends on the product itself in combination with the dosage and the technique used to smoke it. Many variables.

Thanks for your long reply this has somewhat relaxed me as I thought I may have done something wrong and have not dared touch it since. Do people usually bong it or have it in pipes. I broke through very well with the more yellowish evaporated stuff. Have not had much of a chance with the white crystals due to the smoking issues. Is it preferable to bong the dmt or straight from pipe.

If you use a bong you need to sandwhich it between some kind of herb. Like pot. That method or the GVG are going to produce the best Vape. If your talking about a meth type pipe then I would say you need to experiment more with your heating methods. You can easily burn your DMT with this type of device. Which is what I've used for a long time before ultimately switching to the GVG.

I found when using conduction the white fluffy DMT was more difficult to properly vaporize than the more yellow stuff. If you get harsh vapor then your applying too much heat or uneven heat. Using a lighter will make it more difficult to apply even heat and a small torch will make it fairly easy to burn.

Hello!

Have you ever considered making changa or enhanced leaf with your freebase? It is an excellent way to add some enhanced effects to the experience as well as helps with taste.

I made a blend before with peppermint leaves and it was some of the smoothest smoke I have ever tasted and broke through almost every time when smoking out of my short bong with a screen.

I have been told recently though that moroccan mint has even smoother qualities than peppermint, so plan on trying this soon!

Then you are heating it up too much. When DMT is properly vaporized, even without water, it tastes slightly like DMT or nothing. If you get any kind of harshness or stinging sensations or burning or anything undesirable then your doing it incorrectly. Like I said, maybe try another more efficient method.

If its harsh your "smoking" it. If its smooth your "vaporizing" it.

I have an idea.. Could be wrong though.. Perhaps the reason that you had success with the tannins/dMT/Mystery spice is because it is not 100% dMT.

My feeling is that you are using the same method (conduction if I Understood correctly) and the fact the pure white is harsh is because it is 100% dMT, therefor it can handle a lot less heat as opposed to say, the “half dMT half tannin” mixture, it is like a protective thing, the tannins acting as a shield in a way.

I may be way off base though, It’s just the first thing I thought of.

You should maybe consider looking into a smoking method that makes use of convection (hot air) instead of conduction (hot surface).

With conduction the surface will increase in temperature quite quickly, as the surface you heat retains the heat for longer than say, just dragging some hot air over the spice, which ceases when you stop pulling, leaving only a small amount of heat in the device you are using, and not burning it.
