Stopping short makes it hard for rear cars to gage when a mofo will stop, in turn causing other cars to short stop like dominos. Makes me wanna slap short stoppers like I do the table playin dominos. Shit drives me nuts.

What's worse in my bulbous mind is that often the source of the short stopping cascade is some mofo on their phone, like the guy in front of me in a nice Mercedes today.

I came up on that ass, and he tried to brake check me, but these tentacle reflexes are just too fast, I ain't worried. I knew he was on his phone because being what I am, I can't help but be perceptive amd look through the windshields of the drivers in front of me. This is why I'm pretty damn sure he was on his phone, head all tilted down and shit.

He finally got out of the way.

Damn, man, you can afford that nice ass car, but you can't afford to pay attention?

My main worry about resuming driving regularly besides cops

People come to my work and say they are scared of skydiving.

I have to remind them that they got here in a steel box, at 60mph, with unknown humans driving straight towards them also at 60mph.

It's nothing short of a miracle that more accidents don't happen on the roads

Interesting thread... Years back when I started tip-toeing into cubes microdosing - one of the things I was hoping for - it would help me to deal with the daily dose of lunatics on a given road.

It didn't! At least not in the expected sense.

Fast forward to today + DMT + lots and lots of integration - I'm seeing things from such a different perspective now - it doesn't even matter. Well - I mean - lunatics don't matter.

Still haven't figured out - what to do with outer retards driving 20-under in the left lane - other than to ponder - what exactly is universe trying to tell me right here???

Spend some time few weeks back in the best rush hours - LA has to offer, and I actually found it not too bad. At least, people seem more chill and less i'm-a-total-a-hole than where I'm usually commuting.

Listening to classical music makes me drive differently than when I have the drum n bass blaring, that is my scientific data for the topic.
For real. I can attest that listening to Tool and Rammstein doesn't produce the calmest driving ever.

I'm a delivery driver in a city and it can be eventful. I notice it helps immensely to be a little high. I'm way more forgiving, generous, patient, and negative incidents roll off my mind.

My vehicle can't accelerate as fast and needs more stopping distance. I've noticed a lot of people will take advantage of that and cut me off in traffic. Today was a long day already, then unexpectedly some of the longest stop n go traffic on the way home. Was already deflated but that really pushed my patience. Then everyone gets on their phones because you're mostly stopped, which slows down the whole system. And when I came upon the traffic, it was backed all the way up in a bypass, where there was no opportunity to escape the situation once coming upon it. Trapped in a 1.5 mile stretch that ended up taking 30 minutes.

Icing on the cake is when I get home and all of the street parking in a 6 block radius is saturated with patrons of the neighborhood commercial entertainment industry. They turned a park into a 9,000 person concert venue, with no parking.

Mod edit, driving under influence is never an good idea.

That sucks, dude. Sorry.

Anyone here ride a motorcycle? No such thing as a traffic jam or no place to park with a motorcycle or scooter. And you get better mileage – I get around 75mi/gal. Been riding one full time for the past couple of years, and I ain't lookin' back.

Yes, and have done so for 40 years. It's a great way to travel. There have been plenty of articles recently on the mental benefits of biking although it does have some risks. Mostly myopic car drivers. Ive been pulled out by car drivers multiple times (one occasion putting me into an intensive care unit for 2 months and a further 3 months in hspital). Another thing about riding in France is that all of the bikers coming the other way wave at you, so at the end of the journey you have added happiness about making connections with strangers. In England you'd get a cursory nod if you were lucky. Having said that it is probably down to what side of the road each country rides on. If you drive on the left it is not really easy to take your hand off of the throttle to wave to someone. I wave to everyone, scooters, trikes, police bikes...even Harleys.

This is absolutely ridiculous, driving while under influence is extremely dangerous, illegal, and irresponsible. Putting you and everyone on the road at risk, stop doing this!

Funny, I was talking to Mrs T last night and she was appalled at the idea that I might consider taking up motorcycling as an over-50. Mostly this was inspired by the need to get rid of my dad's touring bike which has, incredibly sadly, languished in his damp garage for a decade or so. I'd need to take a bike test though, because I forgot to tick the box on the licence form back when I first learned to drive, where you used to be able to get a bike licence without an additional test. That probably saved my life, thinking about it.

Even so, I rather dream of the time, fuel and cost savings that would come of using a MC for the regular 1200km journey to visit my parents.

even Harleys

It's a wild west there in America. How can we fathom their mindset?

I understand why you feel that way, but disclaimer I am a functional stoner. I can recall the first time I ever got high, my friends wanted to take me out and asked if I wanted to drive, but I could barely even walk to the car! I absolutely did not drive but I'll never forget the offer because it struck me as totally insane.

15 years later, it has long stopped having disorienting effects on me. It's basically just a mood enhancer / stabilizer for me. I think it's pretty unfair to put it on the same level as alcohol, but to each their own.

I'm usually not a fan of bumper stickers. I find them unnecessarily contentious (and cowardly) and bad for the overall tense vibe of driving.
However, I came across one last week reading, "if I passed you on the right, you're an idiot."

Kraken approves.

Nobody is trying to put it on the same level as alcohol. But if one day an accident happens and you kill someone, you will have to live out the rest of your days asking yourself the question "would it have still happened if I wasn't stoned that day?"

People like to tell themselves all kinds of stories to justify why they're taking the drugs they're taking. You're free to live your life the way you want, but I agree with Varallo - driving while under the influence of any substances is one of the stupidest and most irresponsible things one can do, and thousands of people lose their lives on the roads every single day because of certain individuals that don't think DUI is a problem and that they're "fine".
