A hair dryer is not hot enough. You would need some kind of hot air gun if you're not going to use a flame. You really ought to get a different pipe. The one in your picture is not much good for DMT. It tends to go from not working to burnt without much of a sweet spot in between.

The other thing to do would be getting a better lighter. Or, cut to the chase and get an e-mesh vape device.
