This is a pic from a buddy’s extraction he did. An STB with mimosa. I believe this was his second pull. He asked me if I had ever seen this, which I haven’t. So I told him I would get some insight here. I also told him to make an account, so he can ask these things himself 😜

But look at all those crystals in the soup.

What were his ingredients/ratios to get where he’s at in that photo? I want to say I’ve seen threads about this before a long time ago but it’s going to take me a minute to jar those memories out of storage.

He used 100g mimosa, about 150-175g lye in like 600 or 700 ml water. He did one pull with way to much naptha(around 200 ml), and It would not precipitate, so I believe he let it evap some, and after it still didn’t precipitate he took 50 ml of that same naptha and did another pull. He said that pic was from 8 or 9 hours after his last shaking of the jar. Soup was on shelf in his room that was about 60 F.

I think the nexus wiki recommends a ratio of 1:1:15/bark, lye, water so that would be over twice the water currently in there, it may be too concentrated. Warming it up a little would probably help but too much heat may bring out gunk so just a little.

I’m trying to think back to those posts I read and I’m thinking that at least one of them it was actually the lye that was crystalizing but I may be making that memory up. I probably read it here so if you search around you may find it.

This thread mentions your problem.

I had this issue a while back and again last summer. The more recent solution was to place my bottle in a heat bath for a short time while swirling occasionally. It cleared up fairly quickly. I can't see why adding lye wouldn't work too.

Thanks for the link Kermit and thanks Asher and HT for your responses. It sounds like it’s just a thing that can happen. My guess was also high saturation and cool room temp. I’m just surprised they sat there without re dissolving. And they look like those nice papery thin crystals that I get from a super slow cool on crystallizing.

OOps sorry, wrong post

Edit:
But now that I'm here anyway:

You mean this was naphtha? People think it was a based watery liquid. I'm confused a bit.

Anyway, I think it's a base liquid (as crashing out crystals in naphtha is normal and we don't call naphtha a soup), and I've also encountered crashing out crystals in a base.
These are indeed paper thin crystals as you said.

These crashed out of naptha, and were resting on top of the basic soup and the bottom of naptha. He pulled as much solvent as he could and that is what the pic is when he was done. I’ve never done an stb, so this basic soup was much thicker than anything I’ve encountered, and I’m thinking that’s why the goods are resting on top.

I'm with you now thanks, haven't seen that before.

This is the second time on this batch where I was hot bathing at night and mixing, got tired and never siphoned off, and awoke to these. This time is about twice as big as last time. I can almost grab it with tweezers!

Crazy just had the same freaking thing happen.... Did you ever try to smoke the crystal by chance? Any kind of report on quality nervous to try.

I haven’t found a good way to get em out. Sadly, I just admire them, and shake them back into the soup.

It didn’t have a bunch of lye soup contaminating it? I’ve been able to pluck them, but they had a bunch of black soup on the base of the cluster so I threw it back.

My opinion is the temp dropped overnight. Ive seen similar in my garage several times. Cant say for sure but in my case it was straight up dmt not lye or salt. just cold caused it freeze precip at around 0 Celsius in my case. kinda fun before work ;)

I just used a spoon and pulled it out alittle over 100mg crystal

While not pulled from soup, here is a single 250mg crystal I grew (among others) the other day
