Hey guys,

Just a question about an acid base extraction using Petalostylis cassioides. Not much luck so far but swim is going slow, Since it is the only known source out here. Previous attempts not doing a defat turned up some unsuccessful results. Swim is now doing a defat before turning the mix to base. 3 of these defats have been performed so far and lots and lots of gunky stuff keeps coming out. should swim continue de-fatting untill the shellite is clear and looks free of fatty oils. it just seems to be using lots of shellite.

not sure what the end result will be but just trying to get the procedure down pat.

thanks

Thanks for experimenting with these less-known tryptamine sources! But it appears that you try to find a solution to a problem you do not have neither you know that you will have, i.e. plant fats and oils in the final product. It would be far more wise to extract without defatting to see if you can freeze-precipitate anything out, then re-x to relative purity. Recrystallisation does the same job as defatting and it saves tons of solvent and time.

So skip the defattings, basify the hell out of your acidic extract, pull and freeze precipitate. When you have something even remotely promising, then you can think about how to improve the procedure.
