Dictionary of named DMT extraction TEKs

Title says it all, really - with the ever-increasing number of named 'TEK's, it seems useful to cross-reference them in some way - most of them will be a variation on STB with naphtha anyhow. This would fit in the wiki, the forum and the Nexian equally well (IMHO).
It's kind of inspiring though, in that we could do with a dictionary of extraction methods and this would make a good article for the forthcoming edition of the Nexian e-zine

I'll start by scraping stuff off the wiki, but if any of you are more active on Reddit and all that other social media bizniz please chip in with names, links, and a brief description if you have the time.

This is what I was thinking - I think it'd be a great resource outside of the Nexian but would also fit into it very well.

I've spent a good bit of time within the DMT community on Reddit before joining the Nexus, so I'll see what I can gather there. Spiritveghead is STB
Thanks - I meant to type "STB" but had a bout of cognitive flatulence - now corrected!

Kemfun Tek (STB - A/B hybrid??) - A quality over quantity method which can take only a few hours to complete. Works for both MHRB and ACRB, and is considered suitable for beginners.

Disembodied Tek (STB) - Very similar to Lazyman's Tek, but less lazy.

FasTek (STB - A/B hybrid??) - "Fast and Simple Tek" can be used with both Mimosa Hostilis and Acacia Acuminata. Essentially Cyb's Salt Tek without the warm bath for the jar to sit in.

SpiritVeggie Tek (STB) - Widely considered the most popular and comprehensive tek for beginners, this tek requires no heat and little equipment to perform.

GordoTek - A tek that uses no lye, no lab equipment, no heat, and is considered relatively easy. This is another popular choice within the DMT community, although it can take two weeks to complete.

I'll continue to write up some more when I've got time, and probably download and reformat them too. A lot of teks are just reddit posts, and I've already encountered a few which are lost to time after being deleted or the user getting banned.

Brilliant - thanks for the input!

You have been such a help you have no idea!

What I’ve been doing, which might actually help in your process of reformatting them, is putting them into ChatGPT with this prompt:

“Turn this into a comprehensive instructional guide. Keep every detail, highlight very important details/info, and format it in a way that is easily readable, missing no steps, information on measurements, or safety precautions. [insert copy and paste of Tek]”.

I then read both versions over step by step to ensure no detail was missed. In the beginning, I think my prompt was less specific and it skipped over details or didn’t give measurements at all when it got to the steps portion, only giving them in the ingredients portion.

I found that in one of the teks, when I was checking the original to the revised ChatGPT version, one of the instructions called for adding “the remaining 350 mL” without specifying what it referred to. Only in the ingredients section at the top did it mention a reserved 350 mL. So, while reading the initial version, I was stuck on that one part, somewhat confused. After putting it into ChatGPT, it gave me bullet points of what to do, and for that bullet point, it said “350 mL of water” which prompted me to go to the ingredients section where I realized a reserved 350 mL of water was an item listed.

I’m fairly new to this online community so I’m just trying to not be such a fly on the wall and actually participate in the discussions because they’re so fascinating. I’m learning a lot already and I’ve only been here for like a day!!
Hope this helps 😅 thank y’all for all of this information. You’ve been unbelievably helpful.

Nice work @Transform and @FlagellaStink . Do you think would be good to have an intro section where the extraction principles are explained a little? I think it may have been the member @Psilosopher? who created quite a good summary. Something like that would be cool to attach.. I imagine you could also do a good one Transform. I think it would empower members to have some basic understanding of the principles of extraction to help with troubleshooting/improvising.

This is a great idea! One of my complaints with many of these lesser known teks is that they're poorly written or poorly formatted. I've definitely found that the teks that appeal most to me aren't those that are technically easiest but the most accessible and straightforward in writing. With thorough proofreading, editing, and of course credit to the creator of the tek I think this could make for a great standardized format for a DMT extraction database.

Thank you for this!!

Definitely. Accessibility is the goal, and IMO any additional writing which helps to clarify the process would be a welcome one. I think a breakdown of the differences between STB, A/B, etc. would be helpful, among other concepts as well. Depending on who'd be willing to volunteer their writing I think it'd be great to compile some fundamentals. I'll try to do some work on that front.

As someone trying to sort through the nuances of all the various teks, I've been watching this thread anticipating that it'll sort out all my confusions... I hope sharing what I'd like from it is appropriate.

Having all the substantially different teks listed in one place will be great. (I've felt the wiki Extraction Tek page has become very dated and a lot of the forum discussion isn't reflected there.) In listing the teks I'd like there to be a way to home in of the tek I am looking for, and for me that would be something like identifying things that make the tek unique such as a starting substance (e.g., plant matter or salt), maybe some key aspects like materials used (solvents, acids, bases, glassware, equipment), and then the resulting product (e.g., freebase or some specific salt). Then give me a list of teks that get me there. Or simply I’ve got this thing, I want this other thing, and these are the teks that will be of interest.

Something like:
From: MHRB; Using: Naphtha, NaOH, HCl, filter; Producing: DMT freebase -->
TEKs: <reasonable size list of teks matching the From/Using/Producing criteria>
I am thinking that the "Using" bit would be an adjustment to keep the resulting list of teks manageable.

Oh, and though I've been lurking around here for a year or so, I'm just getting around to signing up -- Hi guys!!!

I know this is kind of wishful thinking without providing too much substantial help, but in the future I'll be around and can help out with some of the grunt work of this task.

Hello and welcome!

I'm not sure if you noticed, but this thread is part of an erstwhile attempt at resuscitating "the Nexian" e-zine, but your observations about the state of knowledge regarding the various named 'TEKs' remain valid.

As you may have seen, we also have a wiki where this type of information gets collated, which perpetually constitutes a work in progress - a labour of love, even - and with precisely zero paid staff at that.

The main motivation in attempting to keep abreast of ongoing developments in the naming of extraction TEKs is simply having some idea of what somebody might be talking about when they show up asking for help with the (say) "Barfmonkey TEK" or whatever name happens to be in vogue at the time. [And I really hope that that name I just made up for illustrative purposes remains fictitious!]

There isn't really all that much wiggle room left for coming up with a completely revolutionary new TEK outside of some unexpected application of new technology. For example, it would be interesting to see whether anything practical might arise with terahertz waves when applied to extraction science - magic, selective molecular tractor beams, perhaps?

The rest of it just boils down to grasping the fundamental principles of extraction, of which there are only really a handful even if the rabbit hole of some of the intricacies runs quite deep.

Anyhow, perhaps you'd fancy jotting down a few lines about how your own journey brought you here, over in the introductions area? And your offer of help will be most gratefully received!

Dropped the ball on this over the summer holidays, but I'll look at knocking a few things into shape now that the office is more tolerable than the swimming pool after temperatures plummeted here.
Same here, I've been unbelievably busy over the past few weeks which has slowed progress along with some unforeseen roadblocks, but I've got some cool stuff coming up soon. I'll be making a post in a few hours which might be of some interest as well.

I'm hoping we can get this done at some point in October as I predicted a month or two ago, and I'll be putting quite a bit more time where I can find it into these projects - including this one (to dig up what more I can find on different TEKs). I love that this has got some more discussion going on over here, and I'll try contributing again within the next few days!
