Did I extract Harmala correctly?

Migrated topic.

So I ended up with a good amount of what I hope is Harmala.

The steps I took are as follows

30 grams of Syrian The seeds grinded in a coffee grinder.

150ml water

50mg white vinegar

I combined the SR powder and vinegar/water

I put it on a high boil which took about 5 minutes and let it boil for 10-15 minutes.

I then took it off and let the pot cool outside then strained through a cheese cloth folded twice.

I then took the seeds and put the seeds back into the pot and did another 150ml h20/ 50ml vinegar and boiled for another 10 minutes.

I then strained the liquid while it was still hot and discarded seeds. I then added a good amount of kosher salt. Honestly I have no idea how much salt I added, might have been a few tsp worth.

I then put the liquid in the freezer for about an hour so and there was a good amount precipitation on the bottom of the glass.

I then poured through a coffee filter but it was pretty much impossible to strain that way so I squeezed the liquid and let the filter dry and the extra liquid in the glass overnight.

It dried and became slightly lighter. I scraped it and collected from the filter and from the bottom of the glass.

I attached some pictures. Does this look right? I'd like to make changes from 20mg of freebase DMT to start. ( I know it will be hard but I think I can do it), but I don't want to smoke it if i didn't extract the Harmala properly

You filtered through cheese cloth so all the fine powder went through
You added an unknown amount of salt and maybe not all of it dissolved
You put it in the freezer for a short time so only tiny crystals formed or maybe nothing
Filtering with coffee filter when working with ground seeds doesn't work the powder will clog it fast
...

My guess is your extract is mostly seed powder and not much harmalas in there
To make sure try dissolving some in water and vinegar and see how much will dissolve..

What vinegar/water ratio should I use? Once I do that, what should I do next?

Will everything not dissolved be the Harmala?

Also, if I buy caapi leaves and use that as my herb, will it be proper changa or EL?

Thanks for your help

You need to prepare a solution of 1 part 5%vinegar 7 parts water, heat that solution then add it slowly to the powder, only the harmalas should dissolve, when nothing seems to be dissolving anymore, wait for the impurities to settle then filter the solution

The filtered liquid contains the harmalas, you need need to basify it now by adding lye or sodium carbonate, if the solution turns cloudy then there is harmalas if not then there isn't..

EL but You can make a 10x caapi leaf and use it to make changa

Edit: Sorry i got confused between steps, no need to use vinegar, just hot water but it's not a problem if you already used it.

That stuff looks suspiciously like ground seed material that you didn't catch on the first filtration. That stuff can be a real pain to filter out. That is a big reason why many people do several boils on whole seeds instead of powdering them. The first manske should look a little like picture 1 below, this stuff is a very crude first manske, much more cleanup will be done on this material. If the stuff you collected doesn't dissolve in acidic solution (as stated above), and doesn't fluoresce, then it is def not harmine/harmaline. Doing a harmalan alk extraction is one of those things that really makes a vacuum filtration apparatus required in my opinion. Can it be done without it, yes, but you will pay with lots of sweat and some tears by the time you've finished, lol.
