Migrated topic.

I'm pretty sure American citizens still had right to a "fair" trial before this bill was passed.

Anwar al-Awlaki was an American citizen killed by a CIA drone authorized by Obama's administration.

I hope it passes. The sooner laws like that are made, the sooner the people revolt. Bring on the revolution!
that's a pretty dangerous assumption man. I mean i want a revolution to start and america to fall as much as the next guy but its pretty hard to revolt from a prison cell. I'd rather not sign over any more of my rights to those who are already eager to take them anyway. That's pretty scary vovin about obama having 20000 troops trained for civil disobedience. I would definitely agree that this is the next big step though in our evolution, and there isn't much the powers that be can do to stop it no matter how hard they try. As always i'm waiting for the mothership
soldier:"sir the peasants are revolting!" king: "They've always been revolting now they're rebelling"

I have no doubt that the US Gov't was killing people without fair trials before this bill was passed. I just meant that the judicial system (fucked up though it may be) was still being used for a lot of trials. It seems to me that this bill seeks to undermine the entire judicial system which in theory (definitely not reality) is a good thing about america.

That's really scary vovin. I wouldn't be surprise if instead of soldiers in cammo they sent Storm Troopers and sith warriors. All hail Darth Obama

Obama isnt running the show I can guarantee you that. He's not been a politician for near as many years nor does he have anywhere near the power the real big dogs in washington have that stem from families of politicians dating back 100 plus years. The real power in DC isnt seen by the naked eye. Obama is a puppet just turns out he's just as dumb as bush.

yeah i don't think obama is running the show either I just never hesitate to make a star wars reference. I would move to canada if i weren't 100% broke and if I didn't consider this place so much my home. Its going to be a very interesting 2012. I just hope a lot of people don't end up getting hurt, myself included. like i said, waiting for the mothership...

I think they are underestimating the ability of citizens to organize and resist oppression. All it takes is an easily understandable metaphor that makes the people realize this is no different than British occupation in the 16/1700's. Theres too many armed us citizens, if the shit hits the fan, local militias will form and it will be VERY difficult to control the population. Remember theres a hell of a lot of americans already pissed off, and if they go balls to the wall authoritarianism/martial law, i can't see them being the ones coming out on top. 20,000k trained military troops vs. a ragtag multi-million strong militia, i know where my bet is.

The scary thing, is what comes out of that civil chaos, and what type of leaders a revolution would throw up. I'm just saying they're crazy if they try to declare martial law following an economic collapse or false flag. Theres plenty of patriots in the US Military that i'm sure would not cooperate with orders form the top if a scenario like that arises.

They will not win they will not oppress us face it when Americans think they are getting screwed we get rather mean and violent. The issue is will it be a revolution wherein the greatness of man is shown or will we be living in mad max time where your all my bitches. There are a lot of Americans with a lot of guns in the rural regions I know for a fact the hillbillys wont go easily.

The big deal for the revolution if it is done right you will have the whole world supporting you in overthrowing the government.

There's a difference between the yokels of the past and the yokels of modern day, though. The descendants of scalawags and carpetbaggers direct the mentality of Southerners now, save for an uncompromising minority. The GOP base consists of zombies brainwashed by chicken-hawks, sycophants, and special interest groups. The rebel spirit is dead, because somewhere along the way, being pro-government became synonymous with being patriotic. Surely, this doesn't mean that revolution is impossible; after all, only 1/3 of the population of the 13 colonies favored a revolution against King George III. It would be incredibly difficult, though, because of our advanced technocracy which would enable military police to squash the opposition.

No, we did not just get officially fucked over. In the US for a bill to become a law it must be passed in both houses of congress and signed by the president. This was passed only in the senate.
this is true but do you really have faith in in congress, the house, and the president to uphold your rights? hate to be a cynic but they don't have the greatest track record of doing this. And gracias The Chr0nn01553ur, like your avatar btw

The white house already said obama would veto the bill if it ever came to his desk. I don't think he is lying.

That rabbit hole runs deep. I highly suggest reading this article. It's a long one but worth it.

Congress endorsing military detention, a new AUMF

It seems that the rabbit hole does run pretty deep Melodic. I know that we're not supposed to talk about conspiracies here but it seems our "overlords" have some not so nice things planned for us that are currently in the works. Like tele said land of the free my ass. All I can say is:

Yes, they would definitely have a huge military advantage over militias, but the question is, could a disinformation war of such magnitude be devised to keep the majority of people out of the streets in mass protest? I think if the shit hits the fan, its going to go viral and people will know and be able to SEE the terrible things our gov is "presumably" willing to do to its own citizens. Once you have 90+ percent of the population in the streets demanding an end to the gov. aggression, i think that will be the turning point. People will wake up to the fact that the US gov is NOT representative of its citizens.

Make them aware of all the constitutional violations our gov has committed, unite them against a common enemy, and I'm sure there will be no massive retaliation against the citizens. That would truly be idiotic, and threaten our national security because it could potentially turn the whole world against the US gov, but not the citizens. Just like Egypt.
